"Fatherlessness: The Epidemic" is no filming in New Orleans

buzzz worthy. . .

LOS ANGELES, July 2, 2013 PowerHouse Productions, the award-winning television production company based in New Jersey, has announced filming will start this week on their latest project, "Fatherlessness: The Epidemic," a new documentary hosted and co-produced by Dr. Steve Perry.  Interview segments and roundtable discussions for the documentary will be taped in New Orleans during the Essence Music Festival.  Additional shooting will take place in other cities throughout the country this summer.

"Fatherlessness: The Epidemic," will take an inside look at the impact of young African-American men who have no relationship with their fathers, and the effect it has on the Black community.  There is an alarming epidemic sweeping through urban America at a devastating pace, which has been attributed to high crime and incarceration rates, greater risk of drug and alcohol abuse, poor high school graduation trends, and an increased chance of living in poverty.
Dr. Steve Perry, one of America's most-loved educators, will engage in in-depth conversations with sons, fathers, mentors, politicians, educators, clergy, businessmen, and entertainers, among others, to hear real stories, form real solutions, and showcase programs that offer real hope.
The documentary, "Fatherlessness: The Epidemic," is a natural extension for
PowerHouse Productions and Dr. Steve Perry, as they previously worked together on the critically-acclaimed television series, "Save My Son," which currently airs on TV One.  The powerful program was the catalyst for candidly discussing issues affecting young Black men, especially fatherlessness, and was nominated for a NAACP Image Award.
