WE ARE ONE Caribbean Carnival Costume Band Supports Caribbean Charities

buzzz worthy. . . …Presenting It’s All-White theme “Fashion Carnivale…A Parkway Bacchanal” at the 47th annual West Indian American Day Parade New York, New York— The WE ARE ONE Caribbean costume band (WAOC) will be featured at the 47th annual West Indian American Day Parade on Monday, September 1st 2014. The band will feature Caribbean masks and head pieces to accentuate the custom couture fashions by designers Bernard Moore, Chila for Fun, Danni Ai, Eye Collection Clothing, MG Designs and Pat Brown. This year’s concept presented by the WAOC is a reuse from one of their prior events called “Fashion Carnivale”, which featured a “Runway Bacchanal” between industry fashion designers’ outfits and carnival costume designs. The “Fashion Carnivale” theme was presented to the West Indian American Day Carnival Association | WIADCA (www.wiadca.com) masquerader committee chair, Joan Pierre, who approved the format, since costumes are being created. The public can view costume displays at the WAOC Mas Camp located at Vivid Cafe (www.vividcafe.net), 4617 Avenue D (Between Schenectady & East 46th Street) Brooklyn, New York 11203 from 7PM to 10PM, every Thursday through Saturday until August 30th 2014 WAOC utilizes top runway fashion industry designers fusing carnival themes to create a couture collection of “Frontline & Backline” costumes using custom logo T-shirts. This synergy is unique staying in line with traditional wire frame & feather designs used to dress masqueraders for the annual parade. Now in its 4th year, WAOC has fostered a platform of “playing mas” for a cause - to support area charities. Targeted charities which a portion of proceeds will be donated include the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies | AFUWI (www.afuwi.org), Christopher Rose Community Empowerment Campaign | CRCEC (www.crcec.org) Fighting for better communities and youth opportunities and Team Jamaica Bickle | TBJ (www.teamjamaicabickle.org) who provides support to the Caribbean High School track & field students. Founder of the WE ARE ONE Caribbean program, Carl Gray, stated "Too long have we remained separated by nationalism and selfish desires which tend to deter the growth of our Caribbean people. There needs to be a rallying point where Caribbean people should have a common interest that everyone should support." WAOC influence within its network helped to create a solidarity among several business professionals and key organizations that assisted with its initial campaign of raising funds through the purchase of their custom-designed T-shirts with the WAOC branded logos. These funds were donated to Team Jamaica Bickle (www.teamjamaicabickle.org), the non-profit organization since 1994 that continues to manage the efforts to support the High School Caribbean athletes/ambassadors traveling to the USA and participate in the annual Penn Relays (www.thepennrelays.com) that occurs during the month of April at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In addition WAOC published Caribbean community activities, special events & entertainment industry content through its Facebook, Instagram & Twitter platform (@weareonecarib).
