PWC high school student wins national title in pageant

buzzz worthy. . .
Aria Austin, a 15-year-old vocalist from Bristow, VA is the newly crowned National Teen Talent winner of the East Coast USA beauty pageant. Austin studies vocal music at the Woodbridge School of the Creative and Fine Performing Arts and aspires to sing professionally.
She won over judges with an impassioned rendering of "Listen" from the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls."

In Whippany, NJ on July 26 she also placed second runner up in the Young Miss Division, competing against  11 other contestants from around the country.

Additionally, the Bristow resident's neck was adorned with two medals as she took home optional wins in her age group for runway and interview.

Wearing a soft pink strapless gown with a multi-ruffled mermaid tail, Aria walked onto the pageant stage with little experience.  This pageant was the second time Aria participated in a beauty pageant after becoming Young Miss Southern at the regional level in the same pageant system this Spring in Maryland.

"I entered the pageant to help develop the people and pubic speaking skills I will need in the future," she said.

In her introduction Aria spoke of enjoying baking sweet treats and assisting with her sister Amber's Girls Scout troop. During the interview, in answering a question about what she looks for in a friend, Aria said she believes in demonstrating genuine kindness that leads to long lasting relationships.

Her parents William Austin, II, a former Major in the U.S. Air Force and Mona Austin, multimedia journalist and owner of Jireh Communications Group looked on dotingly as their oldest child was crowned.  "We are pleased that Aria had a chance to share her gift and get recognized for it.  It's an honor."

Austin's other areas of interest include acting, dancing, photography and writing. Locally, Aria starred as young Sassy in the CAPAC production of Debbie Allen's "Dancing In the Wings" and dances as Showcase Dance Studio in Manassas, VA.

In the future Aria plans to pursue a degree in music at Juilliard.

Miss Austin is available for appearances and speaking engagements to address  topics such as how to handle peer pressure and bullying at community events. Email mona@jirehcreative.com for more information.

CHARLES BUTLER & TRINITY DEBUT O BILLBOARD

buzzz worthy. . . URBAN CONTEMPORARY GOSPEL GROUP CHARLES BUTLER & TRINITY DEBUTS AT #16 ON BILLBOARD GOSPEL ALBUMS CHART WITH BLAZING NEW CD “BETTER” The urban contemporary gospel group Charles Butler & Trinity is savoring the sweet success of its debut CD “Better” (EPM Music Group) that has debuted at #16 on Billboard magazine’s Gospel Albums chart. The Washington, D.C. –based ensemble is also gaining ground at gospel radio where its new single “Amazing Worth” has entered the national Top Nielsen BDS Top 100 Gospel Airplay chart with an incredible 26% jump in airplay spins. “I'm excited that `Amazing Worth’ is our second single,” Butler says. “It simply talks about all the things that make God Amazing. God's love is unfailing and his hand is Unchanging. I want people to hear this song and reflect on God's love and his Amazing love towards us.” The Black Gospel Blog recently spotlighted the song as its Pick of the Week with the observation that “while the song follows [Earnest] Pugh’s formula for delivering graceful P&W anthems, the passion of the singers is what sells it.” The soaring ballad led by the warm tenor of Jeremiah Hicks (who’s also sung with the likes of Kirk Franklin and Byron Cage) is now rising on gospel radio airplay lists around the country. James Ziegler, who shepherds the dynamic gospel group Another Level, wrote the song that was produced by bassist Morgan Turner (who’s collaborated with the likes of John P. Kee, Dorinda Clark Cole and Jonathan Nelson). "The lyrical content is right on point and the lead vocalist, Jeremiah Hicks, is one of my favorite singers on planet earth,” says EPM Group founder Earnest Pugh. “Honestly, the entire CD is blazing so we are happy that fans are embracing this project.” Butler formed Trinity in 1997 and they’ve been on a roll ever since. They’ve appeared on scores of concerts and appearances backing other artists. However, they got their first taste of national acclaim when they backed gospel star Earnest Pugh on his classic 2009 recording of “Rain on Us.” The song shot to #1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart and has been a radio staple ever since. Pugh has since had the group tour with him and signed them to EPM in 2012 and the rest is history. For more information on EPM Music Group artists, Visit www.epmmusicgroup.com.
