20, 2015 (Atlanta GA) - Renowned vocalist Darwin Hobbs first appeared
on "The Oprah Show" during the historic final season. Hobbs, a guest on
a poignant show about child sex abuse, bravely shared his testimony as
an abuse survivor. Now, Hobbs and wife Traci will appear on the update
show, OWN's "Oprah: Where Are They Now," this Saturday, May 23rd at
10pm EST.
The
show will update viewers on Darwin's courageous journey to freedom from
shame, guilt, and tragedy of abuse. Additionally, the episode will
also feature Darwin and Traci's weight loss story. They lost a combined
250 pounds with the help of weight loss surgery and lifestyle changes.
In
an awesome twist, Darwin and Traci share their proudest update their
first baby girl, Bethany Lennox Grace, born in May 2014. In their words,
"Bethany's presence is miraculous and a joy."
After
18 years as a major label artist and a 5 year hiatus, Darwin returned
to the recording studio, and this summer will release his hit single
"God Has Remembered," a song inspired by the miracle of Bethany. A
full album is also planned for an Early Spring 2016 release on the
couple's new indy label Heart Art Music.
Cincinnati
native, Hobbs, hit the gospel music scene in the mid 90's after
relocating to Nashville, Tn. He quickly became one of the most sought
after studio session singers through his work with artist like Michael
W.Smith, Amy Grant, Jars Of Clay, Michael McDonald, Bebe & Cece
Winans, Donnie McClurkin and more. As one of the very first artist
signed to EMI Gospel label, he began his recording career in 1998.
Known
by most as the 'Luther Vandross of Gospel' and one of the most sought
after praise and worship leaders on the globe, he spends most of his
time as a Worship & Creative Arts consultant to several churches
around the country. Darwin's strong belief and conviction that
perfecting both the HEART AND ART of worship is what lies at the center
of the programs he offers. It was also what inspired the name of the
couple's new label Heart Art Music.
