The Slice Report's Guide to the Best of New York Fashion Week's SS16 campaigns
has something for every woman and every occasion

In September, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2015 in New York debuted SS16 collections from designers whose work is as different as earth and sky.  With the vast array of shows and styles on display and the crowd of fashion industry influencers and celebs in tow it is easy to see why New York has taken the place of Paris as the #1 fashion week destination.  The Slice  has bundled a swimmingly fabulous selection of the best of women's fashion from #NYFW2015.

In fashion as in art, there is nothing new under the the sun, just a new way of looking at things. ..or looking in them.   We looked for work defined by femininity, creativity, innovation, edginess and of course style to inspire our pickings.  We spotted copious skirts ans dresses, a lot of loose fitting, relaxed looks, the return of the jumper trend and garments formed into bold swaths. Culotte and gaucho pants of varying interpretations also made it to the NYFW runway this year. Colors run the spectrum, but blues, yellows and neutral tones are dominant.  The print trend that lasted over the last couple of years is fading away, while lace and sheer fabrics are making a big comeback.

For fashion newbies, a quick lesson -- the "SS" in front of the year stands for "Spring and Summer" which  means none of the clothes the models are wearing are in stores now, but should be at the top of 2016 depending how quickly stores move fall clearance to make room for new Spring merchandise.

The net-a-porter garments that drew our attention are high on both form and function. "Is it wearable?"  In order to make our list, this question was the guiding point.  Sometimes designers get carried away in trying to make their work stand out to the point that it is not practical to wear without being a spectacle.  They should also ask themselves if their vision is functional, meaning is the detail distracting, uncomfortable to move in or otherwise restricting?  Our choices took into consideration the very lifestyle of women of all ages -- where they go, what they do at church, work and play, either alone or with/without kids or men in their lives. From ready-to-wear to evening wear, here are our favorite designers and looks for the best dressed closets of 2016.

VICTORIA BECKHAM

Victoria Beckham wears a culotte set.

Where to wear: Lunch with your bestie or future boss?  Slip these comfy options on to go almost anywhere.

Culotts and Gauchos are en vogue again!
Cropped, wide leg pants are called culotts (or gauchos, depending on where you are from), not to be confused with Polazzo pants. Celebrity designer Victoria Beckham featured several options at her exclusive show that fall into either category of comfy, yet stylish bottoms. Her new line also features roomier skirts and dresses.

LINDA ROWE THOMAS

Where to wear: Dinner and a museum. . . Private screening at the Schomberg.

Rowe, a burn victim, has an inspiring personal story and a truly luscious way with elegant evening wear. Her jumpsuits are suitable for any event after five o'clock. Click here to view her more formal options. Here we feature jumpers that are formal enough for a gala event and informal enough for

ERIN FAETHERSTON

Muted blue tones (we'd say it's periwinkle technically), delicate textures and wisps of romance define Erin Faetherston's collection.  The sheer, floral floor length skirt looks back to pioneer style and can be paired with a variety of tops.

Where to wear: When the occasion calls for comfort, style and a tad bit of couture (such as at a regal wedding) slip on the Faetherston floral skirt.

TEDASHI SHOJI

The sandles the model is wearing down plays this  gorgeous embroidered cape dress. There is nothing casual about it.  With an A-line dress  extending  into an elegant caped sleeve as the focal point, this Tedashi piece is only for strolling in the most lush settings where one must dress to impress.

Where to wear: The gentleman you just met at the bookstore calls. Hard to come by tickets to the next Metropolitan Opera House performance are available and he invites you on a date. Say 'yes' and don't think twice about wearing this dress.

MONSE

Founders and head designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia play with a "shirt off the back" theme in their relaxed, sexy line. The luxury fabrics and structural designs augmented their garments dresses to statement level.  Femininity and masculinity cooperate with off-the shoulder and draping elements giving the more feminine expression in their designs then upper hand.

JEREMY SCOTT

Scott is Hollywoods's go-to designer for fun, over-the-top looks. His celeb clintele includes Katy Perry. He's also the designer behind the Adidas flight sneaker. This year he continues to offer the types of styles that attracted his star customers. From his SS16 campaign, the graffiti splash paint mini dress and chunky mules in assorted colors gets our vote for the look that is most fun and free.

Where to wear: Dance the night away in Jeremy Scott's artistically expressive mini dress.

KORTO MOMOLU

Korto is a master of movement.  Whether she designs a big, beautiful loose fitting dress or a flared skirt, her garments flow gracefully. In the SS16 collection she also presented a line of bold, African inspire handbags that are neutral enough to carry year-round.  Her

Where to wear: Be the  belle of the  banquet in Momolu's  angelic white, hi-low, trained sleeveless dress. This modestly sexy look is also appropriate and sexy enough for a bride to change into at her reception.
