Suge Knight is in an L.A. jail on murder charges, following a fatal hit and run accident in Compton on Thursday.  While trying to escape from an altercation on the scene of  a commercial shoot for "Straight Out of Compton", Knight hit three individuals, killing one, Terry Carter.  The fatal hit and run accident happened as Knight was leaving  the scene.  He  later turned himself in to the Los Angeles COuntry Sheriff's Department for questioning.

Suge Knight surrenders after killing man in hit and run accident

buzzz worthy. . .

UPDATE:  Suge Knight has surrendered to police after killing a friend in a hit and run accident in Compton, CA yesterday.  Wearing dark shades, Knight turned himself in to police for questioning last night. Allegedly Knight was involved in a fight instigated by two crew members on the set of a project that involved rappers The Game, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube.  In his attempt to flee, the music mogul clipped three people, fatally running over one, his friend Terry Clark.  We have since learned that one of the other two victims was involved in the fight, which may lead authorities to believe the hit and run was intentional.

It seems like Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, can't escape  danger. Last summer, Knight survived being shot 6 times at a Chris Brown performance in LA and since developed a life threatening blood clot.

Some spectators on the scene of yesterday's accident said they believe Knight was scared and ran away to protect his frail health.

TMZ originally broke this story.  Click here for more detailed timeline of what happened .

Coco Brown's comedy specialto air on Bounceon March 10

buzzz worthy. . .

ATLANTA, GA  - Comedian and actress Cocoa Brown will headline her very own one-hour special as part of the third installment of Bounce TV's popular, family-friendly original comedy series "Off The Chain." "Off The Chain: Cocoa Brown" premieres on Tuesday, March 10 at 9/8pm (CT). "Off The Chain" features some of the most hilarious African-American comedians on the stand-up scene. For season three, Bounce TV turns over the microphone to one comic per show, expanding to an hour-long format.

With her raw, yet relevant, and side-splitting delivery of comical observations on topics from Jay Z's lips to keeping "Side Men" in their place, Cocoa Brown is undeniably one of the most talented comics and performers working today. The Newport News, VA native assails her craft with such passion and soul-searching veracity that when she claims a stage, the ensuing act is nothing short of a force of a nature. Cocoa draws from painful reminiscences and hard-knocked lessons, weaving humorous and uplifting tales. What drives the comic who female fans have nicknamed "The Truth"? The sheer will of a woman who survived the worst life had to offer and is still standing.

And on March 10, she stands on the "Off the Chain" stage.

Starting off as an advertising associate for Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus, the fiery mother of one is now a seasoned performer who has assembled an extensive body of work, including appearing on Tyler Perry's critically-acclaimed comedy series "For Better or Worse."  From stand up to comedic roles in film and television, Cocoa Brown has delivered scene-stealing performances everywhere she goes. She most recently starred in "The Single Mom's Club" opposite Nia Long, Roslyn Sanchez, Wendi McClendon Covey and Amy Smart, and is set to appear in the upcoming "Ted 2" with Mark Wahlberg. On the small screen, Brown has delivered her quick wit on top-rated comedy shows including BET's "Comic View" and "One Mic Stand," as well as "Showtime at the Apollo."

From the producers of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” comes a whole new kind of sisterhood.LOVE THY SISTER” follows The Ruckers - Ruby, Ellen and Ione - educated, sexy, and sassy southern sisters who love hard and fight even harder. Ruby Rucker…”The Hothead”. The former lawyer and eldest of the three sisters is married to Ford Sawyer Cooper, an orthodontist with several offices in the Charlotte area. The matriarch of her siblings, Ruby has recently fallen on hard times and works to hide her current financial struggles. Regardless Ruby never holds back and is notorious for being vocal about her opinions, especially when going head-to-head with her two younger sisters. Ellen Rucker Carter…“The Perfectionist”. Divorced from NBA star Vince Carter, Ellen has recently taken a step back from her chiropractic practice to spend more time with their daughter and enjoy life & family more. She wants to start a new chapter in life and is anxious for an official commitment from her longtime boyfriend, Bakari Sellers, an attorney-at-law and well-known politician in South Carolina. Ione Rucker…”The Baby”. Pampered and privileged for most of her life, Ione is eager to prove to herself and her sisters that she can stand on her own two feet. Recently divorced from her college sweetheart and retired NBA player, Ione deals with pressure from her sisters to find a new man - to be her partner in life and in the bedroom! In the revealing debut episode of Love Thy Sister we meet the three sisters and get introduced to their outrageous and unfiltered world. Ellen's trust issues get the better of her, and she accuses longtime boyfriend Bakari of cheating on her. The sisters try to rein Ellen in, but not before she almost destroys her relationship. However, once Ellen catches Ione in the act, Ruby and Ellen begin a full court press in the search for a potential suitor for their baby sister. While Ruby’s relationship seems to be on solid ground, she must defend her parenting skills when her daughter’s actions create static throughout the Rucker clan. Tune in Thursdays at 10PM ET/PT.

Baseball legend Ernie "Mr. Cub" Banks dies at 83

buzzz worthy. . .
Ernie Banks received the Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama.  WHITE HOUSE PHOTO

He was the first Black player on the Chicao Cubs baseball team. The color barrier was just one of many barriers Ernie Barnes broke in his lifetime, including being  one of the early Black athletes selected for product endorsements and the first Black to manage a team.

Chicago (AFP) - Hall of Fame infielder Ernie Banks, who was affectionately dubbed "Mr Cub" by the Wrigley Field faithful, passed away Friday. He was 83.

Banks, the Cubs' first-ever black player, played shortstop and first base, and was a 14-time all-star who played for Chicago from 1953-1971.

He was the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1958 and 1959 and he blasted 512 homers in 19 seasons of Major League Baseball before being elected to the Hall of Fame in 1977.
US President Barack Obama and first Lady Michelle sent their condolences to Banks's family, and to "every Chicagoan and baseball fan who loved him."

"He became known as much for his 512 home runs and back-to-back National League MVPs as for his cheer, his optimism, and his love of the game," Obama, a former Illinois senator, said in a statement.

"He was beloved by baseball fans everywhere, including Michelle, who, when she was a girl, used to sit with her dad and watch him play on TV."

Tall and thin, Banks didn't have the stature of a typical baseball player, but his accomplishments were many. Banks hit 47 home runs with 129 RBI in 1958 and followed up the next year with 45 homers and 143 RBI.

Of Banks's 512 career home runs, 277 came at shortstop. That still stands as the most in the National League for a shortstop. He hit .274 and drove in 1,636 runs.

- Major milestones -
Banks broke down a lot of major league barriers. He became the first African American to manage a major league team on May 8, 1973 when he took over for the ejected Whitey Lockman.
He was also the first player in Cubs' history to have his number retired in 1982 and was voted to Major League Baseball's All-Century Team in 1999. He was the first Cub to be honored with a statue outside Wrigley Field in 2008.

Friends remembered his bright personality and the indelible mark he left on baseball and the city he played for.

"Words cannot express how important Ernie Banks will always be to the Chicago Cubs, the city of Chicago and Major League Baseball. He was one of the greatest players of all time," Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts said.

"He was a pioneer in the major leagues. And more importantly, he was the warmest and most sincere person I've ever known."

Ricketts said while the world had lost a "great" man, his life and achievements would be remembered fondly.

"Approachable, ever optimistic and kind-hearted, Ernie Banks is and always will be Mr Cub. My family and I grieve the loss of such a great and good-hearted man, but we look forward to celebrating Ernie's life in the days ahead."

Banks's love of baseball was legendary. His two favorite catchphrases were, "It's a great day for baseball" and also "Let's play two" -- for his desire to play a doubleheader each day.
He remains the Cubs' leader in games played (2,528), at-bats (9,421), plate appearances (10,395) and extra-base hits (1,009).

Banks was also active in the Chicago community during and after his time with the Cubs.
In 2013, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor given to American citizens.

When he received the prize, Banks handed Obama a bat that belonged to groundbreaking baseball star Jackie Robinson.

"Jackie was the first black to play major league baseball, and here we got Barack, first black president. The president held the bat in his hands," Banks told Sports Illustrated last year.
"That was a thrill."

The marquee at Wrigley Field paid tribute to Banks Saturday, with his name and "Mr Cub" lit up outside the storied stadium.
