Jonas to Open with Epic Performance of His Chart Topping Hits on Saturday, March 28, at 8PM (ET/PT) Live from The “Fabulous” Forum

Santa Monica, Calif. March 5, 2015 – Multitalented recording artist and actor Nick Jonas adds to his hosting duties with an opening performance of his number-one radio hit “Jealous” and Billboard Top 20 smash “Chains” at Nickelodeon’s 28th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards.  Also set to take the stage at this year’s show are hip-hop phenomenon Iggy Azalea, who will be joined by Grammy-winner Jennifer Hudson on their hit “Trouble,” and Aussie pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer with the chart-topper “What I Like About You.” The Kids’ Choice Awards will air live from The “Fabulous” Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Saturday, March 28, 8-9:30 p.m. (ET/PT).  Kids can cast their votes in 21 categories across all of Nickelodeon’s digital outlets – Nick.com desktops and mobile devices, as well as the Nick app on iOS, Kindle, and Android – and users will be able to vote on Nickelodeon’s Twitter feed using #KCA.
“We are so excited to be nominated and perform at the Kids’ Choice Awards! It’s our first time at the show and it's going to be awesome!” said 5 Seconds of Summer.
Triple-KCA nominee Iggy Azalea is up for “Favorite New Artist,” while hit songs “Fancy” (featuring Charli XCX) and “Problem” (Ariana Grande featuring Iggy Azalea) are contenders for “Favorite Song of the Year.”  Iggy burst onto the charts with the smash, “Fancy,” making history on the Billboard Hot 100 as the longest-leading #1 by a female rapper after an astounding seven weeks at the top of the charts.  Iggy made chart history again as the first artist since The Beatles to rank at #1 and #2 simultaneously, and her debut album The New Classic peaked at #1 on the Billboard Rap Album charts--the first for an international female artist.  This year, Iggy was nominated for four Grammy awards including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album, and just recently dropped her new single, “Trouble” featuring Grammy and Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson, which is steadily climbing the charts. Hudson’s highly acclaimed album, “JHUD,” was released in Fall 2014 in the top 10 on Billboard’s Top 200 and recently garnered Hudson her fifth Grammy nomination. Hudson has also been seen blowing up the dance charts with Gorgon City’s number one hit track, “Go All Night.” Hudson’s breakout film performance in “Dreamgirls” garnered her an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA and an NAACP Image Award. Additional film credits include “Sex and the City,” “Secret Life of Bees,” “Winnie Mandela,” “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete,” and “Black Nativity.”
Pop-rockers 5 Seconds of Summer, nominated for “Favorite New Artist,” released their self-titled debut album in July 2014. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and logged the biggest first-week-U.S. sales of any new artist debut of 2014. It has topped the iTunes charts in 76 countries and, in five short months, has sold more than three million units worldwide.
As only Nickelodeon can, Kids’ Choice Awards offers a front-row seat to stunts, slime and celebrities. This year’s telecast will premiere across Nickelodeon’s networks (Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons) and stream live on Nick.com and the Nick App. Presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 2015 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards will roll out in international markets within hours of airing live in the United States, Canada and Australia, giving kids around the globe the opportunity to tune into their local Nickelodeon channel to enjoy the show. Voting for the 2015 KCAs will span six continents across 19 localized voting sites in addition to Twitter hashtag voting (#KCA) giving kids practically everywhere the chance to decide who takes home a coveted blimp.

Presenting sponsors of Nickelodeon’s 28th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards are Amazon Fire HD Kids Edition, General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch™, Gogurt® & Fruit Snacks, Hasbro DohVinci, and Walmart.  Associate sponsors are Bounty®, Capri Sun, McDonald’s®, Nintendo and Toyota.

NEW YORK, NY  -- WE tv has renewed two of its most popular unscripted original series and has greenlit another to debut later this year.  The new series, Cutting It: In the ATL, showcases the high-stakes, drama-filled world of Atlanta hair salons as four salon owners go head-to-head to become Atlanta’s premier shop.  WE tv has ordered 10 hour-long episodes to premiere in May.  Returning to WE tv, both for fourth seasons, are the network’s hit shows Mary Mary and L.A. HairMary Mary returns on Thursday, March 5 at 10 pm ET/PT and continues the story of Erica and Tina Campbell as they juggle their bourgeoning career as a musical duo, Erica’s solo career and the challenges Tina faces in the aftermath of her husband’s infidelity. L.A. Hair, premiering this summer, finds Kim Kimble facing off against a rival celebrity stylist who wants to replicate her success creating stylish wigs and weaves.  Mary Mary and L.A. Hair will both return with 10, hour-long episodes.

Mary Mary and L.A. Hair are two of our most watched and talked about original series, so it’s exciting to offer viewers new seasons along with the opportunity to ‘watch it with’ Mary Mary,” said Lauren Gellert, EVP, development and original programming.  “With the addition of Cutting It to our slate, we are strengthening an already incredible line-up of unscripted series that are attracting a diverse audience and stirring chatter across the social-sphere.”

Atlanta has long been the home to some of the country’s most talented stylists, buzzed about salons and discerning clientele.  It’s also home to studios filled with single-chair salons and stylists who dream of making their mark on the Atlanta hair scene.  Cutting It: In the ATL follows four salon owners who are out to grow their businesses while competing with one another for clients and stylists.  When one salon owner recommends forming a partnership to grow each of their individual businesses, some are intrigued, but others would rather just trim the competition.  Can these four top-tier salon owners put petty jealousies and narrow thinking aside, or will their ambitions come between them and hurt their business aspirations?

Cutting It is produced for WE tv by Leftfield Pictures and executive produced by Brent Montgomery, David George, Jordana Hochman and Robyn Schnieders.  Lauren Gellert, David Stefanou and Kate Farrell are the executive producers for WE tv.
Mary Mary has become one of WE tv’s most popular and talked about series.  The third season doubled its viewership, averaging 1.1 million total viewers.  Season four finds Erica and Tina attempting to reunite and rebuild in the wake of the shocking betrayals and devastation of last season.  Tina and Teddy work through the heartbreak of Teddy’s infidelities, trying to re-establish their foundation with the hopes of coming out stronger as a couple.  Erica's solo career has taken off and now, fresh off her Grammy® win, she realizes that being a solo artist is more difficult than she anticipated.  As she attempts to balance her personal life with her career, Tina is breaking out and embarking on her own solo project.  However, their record label has other plans for Mary Mary and Tina’s quest for artistic independence is met with resistance.  In the wake of it all, former Mary Mary manager, Mitchell Solarek, makes a surprise visit to the sisters in hopes of making amends.

Each week, at 12 am, WE tv will offer up “Watch It With Mary Mary,” an inside look at Erica and Tina’s reactions to seeing that week’s episode for the very first time.

Mary Mary is produced for WE tv by Entertainment One (eOne) and executive produced by eOne’s Tara Long, John Morayniss and Eric Hoberman, WE tv’s Lauren Gellert and Kate Farrell, and Erica Campbell, Tina Campbell and Mitchell Solarek.

Season four of L.A. Hair becomes a battle royale after Kim Kimble finds her salon empire under surprise attack from a fellow celebrity stylist.  The owner of his own posh salon, her competition is eager to expand his A-list brand into Kim’s specialty: the lucrative world of wigs and weaves.  As the competition escalates, Kim’s entire team gets swept into the drama as these two heavyweights of hair battle it out in a war of wills and wigs.

The third season of L.A. Hair averaged one million total viewers, up +31% over season two.

L.A. Hair is produced for WE tv by 3 Ball Entertainment and executive produced by JD Roth, Todd Nelson, DJ Nurre and Brendon Carter.  Lauren Gellert, Suzanne Murch and Annabelle McDonald are the executive producers for WE tv.

South Africa's Bala Brothers Release Self-Titled CD

buzzz worthy. . .

Major PBS Performance Special Airing Nationally
Across the US; Tour Planned For May 2015

The Bala BrothersLoyiso, Zwai and Phelo – are a household name in South Africa, thrilling audiences with their fusion of operatically-trained voices, rich harmonies and traditional South African melodies and rhythms. Overcoming apartheid, the trio rose out of poverty on the strength of their musical talent and broke the color barrier of the famous Drakensberg Boys' Choir, becoming its first black members. For their self-titled debut album on Warner Classics, the Brothers perform an inspiring live program of music ranging from The Lion King to Paul Simon (with special guests The Drakensberg Boys Choir), in their hometown Johannesburg’s Lyric Theatre.
On Tuesday, the Bala Brothers release their self-titled CD on Warner Classics, soon to be followed by a DVD and Blu-Ray performance special that will be available on March 24, 2015.
The performance special is currently airing nationally across the United States. Please visit www.balabrothers.com for all listings.
Recently, the three brothers spoke with Parade.com, who called them "loaded with talent and strength."
Songs on the album include the anthemic "Circle of Life" from Elton John’s score for The Lion King, the Paul Simon hit "Under African Skies," from his seminal album Graceland, their own Xhosa-language love song "Masibuyelane," and the album’s centerpiece: the anti-apartheid anthem "(Something Inside) So Strong," a performance made all the more powerful by the presence of Winnie Mandela in the audience. Watch the video at Classicalite.com
Writing about the song, Parade.com's Nancy Berk said, "The brothers’ beautifully moving rendition of the anti-apartheid anthem '(Something Inside) So Strong' reflects the emotion of their journey, as well as the stories and sacrifices of those like Mandela who have given them, and others, strength and inspiration."
The Bala Brothers were born in the Kwa-Nobuhle township under the rule of apartheid. In 1988, eldest brother Zwai became the first black member to join the then-segregated Drakensberg Boys’ Choir at the age of 12. Overcoming the resistance of many of the white children and their parents, he persevered, and later on the choir also welcomed his brothers, Loyiso and Phelo. Ultimately the three gained acceptance through their strength of character and singing talents, and their careers grew from there to the point where the Bala Brothers thrilled an audience of 55,000 when they headlined a spectacular concert tribute to Nelson Mandela in December 2013.
The Bala Brothers will tour the U.S. in May 2015.

The First Annual Online Christian Movie Tournament, Connecting Fans and Filmmakers
SAN ANTONIO, TX –ChristianCinema.com, part of the FrontGate Web Network, is hosting the First Annual CHRISTIAN MOVIE MADNESS TOURNAMENT. The first of its kind in history, audiences can vote for their favorite films in a bracket-style tournament competition. Based on the NCAA March Madness tournament, ChristianCinema.com aims to bolster the Christian movie industry by creating an industry-wide buzz about audience-favorite films. Voting is open now!
Since 1999, ChristianCinema.com has made deliberate efforts to connect filmmakers with the fans that love and buy their movies. “We thought a social-media-driven competition would engage viewers, letting them show support for their favorite films as well as learn about new films they have not yet seen,” says Bobby Downes, President and co-founder of ChristianCinema.com.
The contest will be promoted on ChristianCinema.com’s website, Facebook page, and via Twitter, but it will also have its own site, www.ChristianMovieMadness.com, which is dedicated to promoting the tournament’s movies. Filmmakers, production companies, and distribution companies will be provided with a Facebook meme at each stage of the contest to encourage fan participation and friend shares in support of the film.  Memes will link to that film’s voting page, so that their fans can make an immediate impact on the results and advance the film to the next round.
The tournament will have an industry-wide reach, across multiple genres. For the first few rounds of voting, movies will be divided into “conferences” based on theme: Faith and Theology, Bible Stories and Epics, Love and Romance, Comedy, Sports, Action/Adventure, Hot Social Topics, and True Stories.  Fans can vote in a single head-to-head or continue clicking through to vote for multiple titles.
“We understand that audiences have not seen every movie in the competition,” says Jared Geesey, Senior Vice President of ChristianCinema.com, “so we are providing links to trailers and story synopses on each voting page, as well as the option to buy the DVD or watch eligible films immediately with Digital on Demand. At the very least, audiences will be exposed to more movies, meeting our goal to bolster the entire Christian film industry.”
“With our uniquely designed website, we have made voting as simple as possible for fans. We want voters to have fun with the competition and share it,” says Geesey.  ChristianCinema.com is also sweetening the pot for voters by offering an immediate discount on the purchase of any film in the Christian Movie Madness tournament.  Voters can also be notified each week of the winners by email so that they can continue to vote and share as films make their way up the tournament bracket.
Tournament dates will be as follows:
Round 1 – Now through March 12
Round 2 – March 19
Sweet 16 - March 24
Elite 8 - March 28
Final 4 - March 31
Championship - April 2
For more information about the tournament, visit Christian Movie Madness or ChristianCinema.com

Taraji Henson, Terrance Howard, Malik Yoba, Along With Breakout Stars Bryshere Y. Gray, Jussie Smollet, Kaitlin Doubleday and Ta'Rhonda Jones Receive Praise For  Performances

Before the stars of Empire captivated viewers, someone had to find the right match for each role.  Meet casting director, Leah Daniels Butler, the sis of the shw's producer, Lee Daniels.
(Hollywood, CA) -- The water cooler conversations this week about the hottest new show on television, "Empire", are not about storylines, plot twists or even the season's breakout stars but Leah Daniels Butler feels the actors deserve to be the story.

Casting Director for "Empire", Daniels Butler also cast roles for "The Butler" and discovered talents like Gaborey Sidebey, a a then unknown actor who starred in the Academy Award winning film "Precious".  At the same time, she is sister to Director Lee Daniels, which gives her unique insight on how actors are chosen for roles in his projects.

"Rather than focus on who is not on "Empire" we should be celebrating the actors who are doing amazing work week after week," says Daniels Butler.  "Fans are in love with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and Lucious (Terrance Howard) because the actors who give life to the characters they portray are delivering award winning performances."

Daniels Butler goes on to praise the work of breakout star Bryshere Y. Gray, who plays heartthrob and resident bad boy Hakeem Lyons, for his "growth as an actor" and believes Ta'Rhonda Jones is "enormously talented" and applauds her musicianship.  However, it is Malik Yoba's "powerful performance" as Vernon Turner that seems to make Daniels Butler beam just a bit.

"I am so proud of Malik, he is a veteran actor and knows exactly what his character needs to succeed, she said."  "There so many wonderful people that help make this show a #1, like the fantastic job Jussie Smollet (Jamal Lyons) is doing, and I cannot say enough about Kaitlin Doubleday (Rhonda Lyons) who had the unique challenge of filling a diversity role and does it seamlessly.  Why not celebrate those people?"

New Southern Electrikk releases video

"You're about to hear one of the most beautiful melodies ever written."

Almost everybody has experienced the pain of a broken heart at some point in their lives, and it was a heartbreak that led Rikki Turner of The New Southern Electrikk to write the melody and lyrics for 'Brown Eyes' fourteen years ago...

And it seems the song has struck a chord with people all over the world. 'Brown Eyes' has been featured in magazines across the UK, Europe and America and playlisted at radio stations on five continents, including national airplay on BBC Radio 2. The New Southern Electrikk have been invited by Alan McGee to play at his Creation Sessions in May, 'Brown Eyes' has been picked up for release by punk icon and Louder Than War Records label owner John Robb and the band will be performing the track on Channel 4's Dispatches on Monday 19th January.  It's been a busy week for Rikki Turner and the rest of the band who always knew the song was something special, but are still astonished by the amount of attention it has received in such a short time.

Explaining where he drew his inspiration from, Rikki says " The song was written during a particularly dark period of my life when things weren't going well. Brown Eyes was a woman who left me. As she walked away, The Shirelles' 'Baby It's You' was playing and the song came to me there and then. The pain I felt that day can be heard in Monica's breathtaking vocals and the band's performance on the record is stunning.  To think something so beautiful can emerge from that level of pain is extraordinary... but that pain had to be experienced for the song to exist."

'Brown Eyes' channels the sound of sixties girl groups with a pared down production style that draws inspiration from the work of celebrated producer Martin Hannett. The New Southern Electrikk however, cannot be easily categorized as b-side 'The Theme to The New Southern Electrikk' proves with its echoes of early New Order and The Charlatans defly woven together with samples of Charles Bukowski.

Drawing inspiration from Psychedelia, Krautrock and Post-Punk, The New Southern Electrikk craft dark, mesmerizingly beautiful melodies driven by grinding, sexy undertones. Monica Ward's vocals can be as ethereal as they are deep and soulful; capturing her audience in the palm of her hand, with her mesmerising performances.

Zach Davies's flowing guitar shimmers over Steven Tajti's gritty, throbbing basslines with Rikki Turner's keys and backing vocals providing a darker edge. Jim Correy's drumming is brooding and purposeful giving The New Southern Electrikk a solid base on which to build soundscapes that are visceral yet sultry.

Having already found fans in Suede's Bernard Butler and The Lemonhead's Evan Dando to
producer/Creation Records co-founder Joe Foster and punk icon John Robb who is releasing Brown Eyes on his label Louder Than War Records, The New Southern Electrikk are one of 2015's most exciting prospects.
