UPDATE: B.B. King funeral details and official acknowledgements from Pres. Obama and Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame

buzzz worthy. . .#bbking

The Bluesman's final resting place will be in his native Mississippi.

The passing of B.B. King will be formally observed in three cities where the legendary Bluesman made his mark.

From the Associated Press. . .

A public viewing will be held 3-7 p.m. Friday at Palm Mortuary West in Las Vegas. Visitors will be able pass King's open casket, but there won't be seating or a memorial service during the viewing, mortuary manager Matthew Phillips said. A private service for relatives will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the larger downtown Palm Mortuary chapel.

His body will be flown on next Wednesday to Memphis, Tennessee, the place where a young King was nicknamed the Beale Street Blues Boy. It is expected to arrive at the airport at about noon, and will be driven in a procession to Handy Park on Beale Street, where a tribute will be held that day.

After that, King's body will be driven to Indianola, Mississippi, which King considered his hometown.

A public viewing will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 29 at the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in Indianola, and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. May 30 at the nearby Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church, the museum announced Wednesday. The 15-time Grammy winner will be buried later that day in a private ceremony at the museum, which King helped develop
King died in his sleep a year week ago on May 14 in his Las Vegas home.

Statements on King's Passing

"The blues has lost its king, and America has lost a legend. B.B. King was born a sharecropper’s son in Mississippi, came of age in Memphis, Tennessee, and became the ambassador who brought his all-American music to his country and the world. No one worked harder than B.B. No one inspired more up-and-coming artists. No one did more to spread the gospel of the blues.

Three years ago, Michelle and I hosted a blues concert at the White House. I hadn’t expected that I’d be talked into singing a few lines of “Sweet Home Chicago” with B.B. by the end of the night, but that was the kind of effect his music had, and still does. He gets stuck in your head, he gets you moving, he gets you doing the things you probably shouldn’t do – but will always be glad you did. B.B. may be gone, but that thrill will be with us forever. And there’s going to be one killer blues session in heaven tonight."
— President Barack Obama

“B.B. King was a legend, of that there is no question,” said LaMont “ShowBoat” Robinson, founder and CEO of the Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame. “He will be sorely missed. He was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, ambassador for African-American music forms for well over half a century. His influence is all over R&B, rock and roll, hip-hop and even country music. Anyone who plays a guitar has been influenced by B.B. King.” Robinson said once the Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame Museum is built in Clarksdale, Mississippi which is near B.B.King hometown of Indianola, Mississippi there will be a wing named in honor of the King of Blues."

Award-winning violin virtuoso and recording artist Christer Tepper, with his signature use of striking visual media, will perform at the Empowered21/Global Congress in Jerusalem. The annual event, drawing thousands of Christians worldwide, occurs Pentecost Week, May 20-25.
“A Christian musician worships every time he picks up his instrument,” said Christer (who performs under his first name), and his youth belies his prodigious work. “For classical artists who are Christian, it’s especially rare to step on a stage and lead worship—much less in Israel, the cradle of our faith.”

Unique Musical ExperienceAs a world-class violinist, Christer stays in demand at leading concert halls across Europe, where he also spent years of training. His commitment to stories with music, however, and his love of hymns and music with meaning, also take him to the unlikely venues of faith conferences and Christian events.

Sharing the stage with a movie screen, Christer and his violin weave the story the video shows, doubling sensory impressions and leaving audiences with, in Christer’s words, new hope.
“Rick Eldridge produces the music and the film stories, which is no small task. Though he comes from a musical background, he has produced numerous feature-length films such as Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius and The Ultimate Gift,” Christer said. “Each piece I play, basically, is accompanied not only by a full orchestra but also a feature film the length of the music. People compare the experience to Fantasia.”

A performing violinist since age 4, since 1994 Christer has led more than 2,000 programs in concert halls, churches, embassies, schools, universities and conferences—for audiences across Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. His many recordings include albums with his pianist father.
Christer earned scholarships to the Young Artist Performance Academy at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and to the world-famous Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. His teachers include Rudolf Gaehler and Pinchas Zukerman; he has taken honors at a variety of music competitions and appeared on CBC radio, on television and on many DVDs.

His playing has been described as “deeply felt,” “sparkling with pristine intonation” and of “brilliant virtuosity.”

A New Stage at Empowered21Among the world’s largest gatherings of Pentecostal leaders, the Empowered21 Jerusalem 2015 Global Conference convenes its main sessions in Jerusalem’s Pais Arena. Keynote speakers, prominent worship leaders—including Christer—and breakout sessions across the city will focus on leadership, prophecy, church planting and worship arts.

American Idol alum follows self-titled debut with a new beginning

May 21, 2015 (Nashville, TN) -- Michael Sarver is happy to announce the release of his studio album, "Begin Again." The compilation joins together a collection of his favorite songs aimed at touching and connecting with fans.

"Solid sound. Solid songs. Solid talent." - Arnie Andrews of WCOW (Sparta, WI)

The first single, "Miss You Something Crazy" has done phenomenally well for an independently released track, climbing up the charts in both the U.S. and Europe. The accompanying music video stayed in the top three on CMT for six weeks straight. MusicRow Magazine has the single rising on the Country Breakout charts rapidly, while it places in the top 25 on the UK Hot Disc charts. Sarver is in the middle of a radio tour to promote the single which has encouraged great responses from programmers across the United States.

"Michael will give each song a unique flavor that country music fans are craving." - Josh Crowell of WVRE (Dubuque, IA)

Listeners can expect to hear music that they can truly relate to with songs like "When I Drink"; written about having a good time while throwing back with friends, or the title track "Begin Again".

"We have all found ourselves in relationships with real life struggles. Overtime the hard times and bad tend to build up to the point that it's impossible to see the love and life it all began with. This song is about taking that time to start over and give your heart a chance to find new life in your relationship," says Michael of the title track.
Jasper, TX native Sarver has known music was his passion since age 11, but it wasn't until he auditioned for American Idol that he took to music full-time. After placing in the top 10 and touring with friends Kris Allen, Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert, and the rest of the Season 8 contestants, Michael quit his job and released his self-titled debut album. Fans might remember "Ferris Wheel," "You Are," and "Watch Me" from the 2010 release, but there was more in store for him. After taking some time off to spend with family, develop his artistry, and build a state-of-the-art studio, Michael Sarver is back and ready to move listeners across the globe.

"[Michael's] determinded to remain true to himself by telling stories through his music that will impact people." - Andrew Rogers, TheHudsucker.com

SIGNING OFF: David Letterman says farewell tonight

buzzz worthy. . .

A good thing will come to an end tonight at 11:35 p.m. "The Late Show with David Letterman" will air its 6,028th and final episode on CBS.    News of Letterman's pending departure came last year, giving plenty of time for a long good-bye.  Over the years anybody who was  somebody in Hollywood or interesting people from neighborhoods across the country sat across from Dave in the Ed Sullivan Theater as he asked simple questions and exposed his signature gapped teeth in an easy smile. The last of the "pure" night time hosts (i.e., talking and cracking jokes were his main form of entertaining), Letterman retires with over 33 years in the hosting seat, more than any other late night show host. Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno's shows were cancelled  a few years ahead of Letterman's ending an era of scripted  late night talk with younger, more flexible talents Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel remaining in network television late night slots.

From CBS. . .

He and his shows have been honored with numerous accolades, including 16 Emmy Awards and a staggering 112 Emmy nominations, a 1992 Peabody Award and a prestigious 2012 Kennedy Center Honor. Through his more than three decades on television, Letterman has been credited with changing the talk show genre, providing viewers nightly with an unpredictable hour of inspired interviews and innovative comedy. He has given audiences one-of-a-kind talk show moments with superstars and unknowns, budding comics and headliners, emerging musicians and established legends, top politicians and fascinating human interest guests, while sharing his own personal stories with viewers, becoming one of the most influential broadcasters in television.

There have been several "going away" airings leading up to the show's finale. Last night he ended with the same guest he started with--Bill Murray.   Bob Dylan performed.  On Monday night  Tom Hanks and Eddie Vedder were guests.
CBS is not giving up any details about guests tonight, but the network said the show promises to be filled with surprises, memorable  highlights and a final top 10 list.

Steven Colbert is the new host of the program.
