Hulk Hogan has been ousted from the WWE for using racist langauge

buzzz worthy. . .

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. has severed ties with Hulk Hogan amid a report that one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling history used racial slurs in a conversation caught on a sex tape.

The company deleted most references to Hogan on its website and issued a statement Friday saying it had terminated its contract with him.

WWE did not give a reason, but issued a statement saying it is “committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”

On Friday, a joint report from RadarOnline.com and The National Enquirer said that Hogan had used racial slurs in a conversation caught on a sex video that is the subject of an invasion of privacy lawsuit.

In a statement, the 61-year-old Hogan apologized for using “offensive language” in a conversation eight years ago.

“It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it,” Hogan said, calling his departure from a WWE a resignation.

His attorneys did not immediately return messages left by The Associated Press.

Hogan, perhaps the biggest star in WWE’s five-decade history, was the main draw for the first WrestleMania in 1985 and was a fixture for years in its signature event, facing everyone from Andre The Giant and Randy Savage to The Rock and even company chairman Vince McMahon.

He won six WWE championships and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 by Sylvester Stallone.
But he was able to transcend his “Hulkamania” fan base to become a celebrity outside the wrestling world, appearing in numerous movies and television shows, including a reality show about his life on VH1, “Hogan Knows Best.”

Hogan is currently seeking $100 million from the website Gawker for posting part of the sex tape of him with Heather Cole, the ex-wife of Hogan’s one-time friend and radio show host Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.

Gawker, which removed the video from its website under a court order, said it had the right to publish the edited video because Hogan talked in detail about his sex life before the video’s release, which made the story newsworthy.

Wale promotes higher learning with First Lady Obama at ionWhite House education summit

buzzz worthy. . .

Hip Hop star Wale spent most of his time at the White House yesterday in support of First Lady Michelle Obama's Beat the Odds Summit , an extension of the "Reach Higher" initiative.  "Reach Higher" focuses on ensuring universal access to higher education. The popular rapper shared experiences from his collegiate days on a panel.  Over 130 college bound students from around the US and Puerto Rico who have overcome "substantial obstacles" (such as the children of Dreamers and those with special needs) attended the summit, which was moderated by Terrance Jenkins, co-anchor of E! News.

Prior to the event Wale said: "I’m beyond honored & grateful to be involved in the First Lady’s “Reach Higher” initiative & to have the opportunity to sit down with her, as well as perform for the kids of D.C. I believe that the youth are the first step in creating a better country, so to be involved in a program that aims to enrich their lives is truly the greatest reward,” says Wale. “Having grown up in Washington, D.C., being invited to the White House by the First Lady is a dream come true. Thank you to Mrs. Obama & her entire staff for this opportunity."

Wale was eyeing a career in professional football when he attended colleges in Virginia and Maryland on football scholarships, but he never finished school and chose a career in music.  However, college is where here learned to be self-reliant and sense of being a go-getter, he said.

"College essentially to me was taking the training wheels off my life."

First Lady Obama told Jessica Waters of Dayton, OH there is no substitution for hard work when asked Frist for her bet advice for advice on being successful.

"I’ve gone to the best schools.  My kids go to good schools.  And I’m telling you, folks work hard.  People are going to class.  They're doing their homework.  They're studying for the SATs.  When they get to college, they don't play.  They don't think it’s a joke.  They know why they're there."

Continuing she said President Obama is a shining example of a hard worker.

So if anything, they have the advantage of understanding that success is hard work because maybe they’ve seen their parents who get up every day and go to jobs and travel and make sacrifices for the money that they make.  Hard work is at the core of everything.  And if it’s too easy, then you're probably not working hard enough.
I am where I am, Barack is where he is because -- let me tell you, this President works hard.  (Applause.)  He works hard.  He works all the time.  He is always reading.  He is always writing.  He is never off.  You're not -- success is not easy.
So you got to embrace that reality, and then not think that if you stumble, that somehow it’s over.  Everybody up here knows that failure is a necessary part of growth and success.  Each and every one of us on stage has failed in some big, horrible, embarrassing way at some point in our lives.  And I’m sure it’s going to happen again.  That's the way it is.
The day-long event concluded with the crowd standing as the DC-based rapper performed three of his hits.

Syndicated radio host Rickey Smiley was also on hand.  Smiley interviewed First Lady Obama in a one-on-one pertaining to access to post secondary education that will air on Monday, July 27 on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show and Dish Nation.

Smiley lauded the White House for its efforts to level to playing for everyone to attend college.

With the long term in mind, what better way to protect the athletes while creating jobs than to pass The Sports Vote. Cheating website Ashley Madison hacked, personal info posted

buzzz worthy. . .

Millions of cheaters are probably trembling with fear after Ashley Madison  was hacked last weekend. Ashleymadison.com is the popular Website where over 30 million married people meet to cheat.   Credit card info, names, addresses, in addition to  sexual indiscretions have been exposed. The hackers, who identified themselves as the "Impact Team" are threatening to release all the data after initially releasing a small data dump to prove they have the private records.  The hackers were upset  with being cheated out of  $19 for a service that was supposed to scrub personal data that did not work. So far, according to the Associated Press their only demand is they want the Ashley Madison and Established Men sites shut down.    AP has more. . .

NEW YORK (AP) — The parent company of Ashley Madison, a matchmaking website for cheating spouses, says it was hacked and that the personal information of some of its users was posted online.
In addition, the person or persons behind the attack are threatening to release all of the site's personal information — including its members' sexual fantasies and financial information — if the company doesn't take Ashley Madison offline, according to a prominent security blog.

Toronto-based Avid Life Media Inc. says it has had the hackers' posts — which included snippets of personal information — taken down and has hired a technology security firm. The company and law enforcement agencies are investigating.

The breach was first reported late Sunday by Brian Krebs of KrebsonSecurity, a website that focuses on cybersecurity. Ashley Madison, whose slogan is "Life is short. Have an affair," purports to have 37 million members.

The hacking follows the May breach of the dating website Adult FriendFinder, which involved the theft of names, email addresses and information about the sexual orientation or habits of up to 4 million of that site's members.

According to Krebs, the hacker or hackers, in the Ashley Madison breach identified as "The Impact Team," posted large caches of data from the Ashley Madison site, claiming to have compromised user databases, financial records and other information.

Besides random personal data from members, the hackers also posted maps of the company's internal servers, employee network account information, company bank account data and salary information, Krebs says.

The hacker or hackers also posted a manifesto alongside the data, accusing Avid Life Media of lying to its customers about a $19 service that would scrub all of their personal information from its data bases, saying that the data doesn't actually go away," Krebs says.

The hackers say that if Avid Life does not take its Ashley Madison and Established Men sites offline, it will release all of the company's information — including customer records, nude photos, sexual desires, online conversations, matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, along with employee documents and emails — according to a screen capture of the hackers' manifesto posted by Krebs.

Avid Life released a statement Monday morning saying that it has been able to secure its sites and close the back doors into its systems.

"We are working with law enforcement agencies, which are investigating this criminal act," the company's statement reads. "Any and all parties responsible for this act of cyber-terrorism will be held responsible."

Michelle and I were saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. George Cooper, the Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). As a native of Tallahassee, FL, George’s love of education and HBCUs began as a student at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, continuing his education at Tuskegee University and receiving his Ph. D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana. George spent the majority of his life ensuring that students at our nation’s HBCUs were receiving a quality education and had the necessary resources to succeed and make their communities and our country better. He served on the faculty at several universities including Alabama A&M University, Tuskegee University and as President of South Carolina State University. His service extended beyond working with students at institutions.  For 17 years, he worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, ensuring that HBCUs and other minority-serving institutions were receiving adequate resources to strengthen research and academic programs. George’s passing is a great loss for my Administration, the HBCU and higher education communities and for everyone that knew him.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Diane, family and friends during this difficult time.

Grammy Award winner Tye Tribbett was already scheduled to give a “Hate Won’t Win” concert in Columbia, SC this coming Thursday when he saw a shocking site on the evening news. He witnessed almost 50 Ku Klux Klan members angrily chanting and waving confederate flags to protest the removal of the Confederate flag from the South Carolina Statehouse in Columbia last week. “I’m even more committed to fighting racism than ever before,” says the gospel superstar whose dynamic ensemble has shared stages or recorded with the likes of Faith Hill, Justin Timberlake, Sting and Don Henley.
“It's a sensitive place to be right now in Columbia where one side wants to honor the efforts of their forefathers and another side wants to erase the memories of the pain caused by them,” Tribbett says thoughtfully sighs.” It's not going to be an easy road, but I do know this: hate won’t win!”
Tribbett’s July 23rd “Hate Won’t Win” concert will raise money for The Mother Emanuel Hope Fund and The Lowcountry Ministries –Reverend Pinckney Fund which will benefit the families and church of the nine people who were killed during a racially-charged mass shooting at a prayer meeting at the historic Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Columbia June 17th. The concert features some of the biggest names in gospel music such as gold-selling recording artist Israel Houghton, “Break Every Chain” singer Tasha Cobbs, R&B star Akon’s protégé Mali Music and Top Ten recording artist Travis Greene. The concert takes place Thursday, July 23 @7:00 PM at The Medallion Conference Center, 7309 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
Tye Tribbett leaped on to the national scene in 2004 with his riveting Top Ten radio smashes “No Way” and “Everything.” His frenetic energy and showmanship catapulted him to the top of the gospel field with subsequent radio hits such as “Victory,” “No Other Choice” and “If He Did It Before... Same God.” Four of his five albums have peaked at #1 on Billboard Magazine’s Top Gospel Albums sales chart and his latest “Greater Than” won the artist two Grammy Awards including Gospel Album of the Year.
