ANSWERED PRAYERS: Lamar Odom wakes up and is responsive and reunites with Khloe

buzzz worthy. . .
By Mona Austin

Former NBA baller and reality TV star Lamar Odom was allegedly brain dead and fighting for his life in a Nevada hospital since last Tuesday.  People all over the Internet expressed they were praying for the basketball pro to pull through using the hashtag "prayersforlamar." Off the ventilator and breathing on his own, he is now showing signs of improvement.  On Friday, E! News reported he opened his eyes and spoke for the first time in three days.

"Hey Baby," he said to Khloe Kardashian, his estranged wife, responding with a thumbs up when she said "I love you."  Sources say Kardashian has not left his bedside since arriving.

Odom,  was found unconscious in the VIP suite of a Nevada brothel.  Doctors called his condition a drug overdose after discovering the ex-LA Laker had a stroke and was brain dead from consuming a "cocktail" of sex performance enhancers, opiates and cocaine.  Opiates slow down the heart and are sometimes used in pain killers, doctors say.  The 911 tape revealed that a pink colored fluid was coming out of Odom's mouth which some doctors say could signal trauma to the nose or internal bleeding.

This may not be an isolated case, but instead a case of the affects of long-term drug and alcohol use taking a toll overtime.  It was allegedly drug abuse that caused the separation between Lamar, 35 and Khloe, 31 in 2013.  That year, Lamar had gone missing and it was later confirmed he left his wife. Khloe intervened and tried to reconcile unsuccessfully.  They eventually filed for divorce and appeared to be on amicable terms in a recent episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians"  when Lamar called to inform her of the death of the best man in their wedding, Jamie Sangouthai.  Did Khloe see this coming? Khloe stated that the devastation of the death of his best friend over the summer, who he'd known since the age of 12, could take Lamar into a downward spiral.

Guillermo Castillo, Sangouthai's father said those around  Odom could see the signs drugs were taking over his life.

He says he thinks Odom was pacifying grief to cope with his friend's death and wanted to die too.Jamie died in Los Angeles from a flesh-eating bacteria, necrotizing fasciitis, that is associated with heroin use.

During a phone interview with the New York Daily News Castillo said, “I think Lamar is done. I think most of it is because he missed my son so much,” Castillo told the New York Daily News on Thursday, which was reported on October 16. “I think deep inside they had a death wish, or a wish to die together. It sounds very cold-blooded, but I have a hard time controlling my emotions. They were so close. They went through a lot together — very powerful and beautiful times together.”
Ironically during the short-lived "Khloe & Lamar" reality show, Lamar attempted to help his friend get clean from drugs.Because their divorce is not yet finalized, Khloe still has legal authority over Odom's medical affairs.  She has already sprung into action ob behalf of her ailing ex to quell media speculation. In particular, Kardashian camp issued a statement to keep the brothel owner quiet.

The brothel  owner is apparently attempting to profit from Odom's pain. He appeared on

Odom's two children he has with his ex-girlfriend flew in with their mother from New York.  They too are asking for prayer and privacy.

In initial reports doctors said Odom will not be able to lead a normal life.

UPDATE: Odom has not fully recovered but  attended Kanye West's fashion show during NYFW and received applause.  This is a blessed turn around for someone who was in a coma months earlier.  He still has trouble walking and with his speech and is undergoing recovery therapy at home and at a treatment facility.

FBI: Abbie Lee Miller indicted for bankruptcy fraud

buzzz worthy. . .

Reality TV Performer Charged with Defrauding Bankruptcy Court by Hiding Assets and Lying About Income

PITTSBURGH—A reality television performer has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of bankruptcy fraud, concealment of bankruptcy assets, and false bankruptcy declarations, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The 20-count indictment, returned on Oct. 13, named Abigale Lee Miller, 50, formerly of 406 Darrell Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15235, (Penn Hills) as the sole defendant.
“Criminal prosecution is appropriate when debtors corrupt the bankruptcy process through deceit and lies before the court,” said U.S. Attorney Hickton.
“Federal bankruptcy proceedings can be a lifesaver for honest individuals overwhelmed by debt resulting from any number of legitimate reasons, but allegations of fraud and abuse threaten the integrity of the bankruptcy process and the public’s trust in it. We take our responsibility to pursue allegations of bankruptcy fraud seriously,” said Special Agent in Charge Scott S. Smith of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Pittsburgh Division.
“Fraud and dishonesty in bankruptcy proceedings undermines the integrity of these important proceedings and especially hurts the creditors and American Taxpayers,” added Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Special Agent in Charge Akeia Conner. “Concealing assets from the Court and not paying taxes is a gross violation of civic duty and IRS Criminal Investigation will work diligently with our law enforcement partners to pursue those who do so.”
“The investigation of Abigale Lee Miller demonstrates our commitment to identify and prosecute those who commit bankruptcy fraud,” stated Acting Inspector in Charge, David McGinnis, of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service—Pittsburgh Division.
According to the indictment, after filing a Petition to Reorganize her dance studio in December, 2010, Miller then schemed to defraud the bankruptcy court by concealing income she earned between 2012 and 2013 from her performances on the reality TV show “Dance Moms” and related spinoff TV shows, as well as from Masterclass dance sessions and merchandise and apparel sales. The indictment alleges that Miller created bank accounts to hide the income, and instructed others to conceal certain income from the bankruptcy court and Trustee. It is also alleged that Miller made numerous false declarations in monthly operating reports which did not report certain income or underreported certain other business income. The indictment further alleges Miller concealed income totaling approximately $755,492.85 from the Trustee and creditors, and gained favorable terms to restructure debt from her fraudulent acts.
The law provides for a total sentence of five years in prison, and a fine of $250,000 or both for each count of the indictment. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The United States Trustee, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Katrina Walker continues to support victims of domestic violence

buzzz worthy. . .

Katrina Walker is an outstanding example of how to beat the odds when they are stacked against you. As an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and motivator, she took being a witness to cultural, domestic, and financial tumult and converted what she learned into a motivational tool to fight victimhood. Walker went from being a struggling teen bride, to a divorced mother of four, to a trailblazer who has over the past 25 years built thriving enterprises; including a 24-hour day care center, multiple real estate holdings, a record label, and state-of-the-art recording studio-all while becoming a self-made millionaire.

Her renowned Tennessee based RainbowKidz Learning Center is currently expanding into a national brand, while Walker is being busily pursued as a motivating life coach, with personal stories that demonstrate that anything is possible. For over the past two decades her philanthropic, hands-on support has helped turn hardworking individuals into successful business owners; providing them with step-by-step guidance on how to start a business, hire employees, manage a budget, select locations, and take advantage of marketing to realize their full earning potential.

The experience of being in an abusive relationship, both mental and physical, allowed her a keen sense for spotting those in similar crisis, and out of this has grown yet another community supportive enterprise at Walker's helm: the BE (Blind Eye) Foundation, whose mission and motto is to "BE the difference and not turn a Blind Eye to society." With the impact of her encouraging words and motherly guidance-often delivered through her sassy, tell-it-straight, southern style-she is using the BE foundation to launch ongoing, nationally aired PSA's that will weave a true picture of domestic violence-chronicling the cycle of abuse from male and female perspectives. Not only will her media campaign shine the light on often undiscussed areas of abuse, she will narrate solutions, encouraging a way out of victim-hood.

Walker describes what is at the heart of her support system,
"I consider myself a motivator-not a motivational speaker. Everyone has a story. Everyone goes through trials and tribulations. I don't speak to or at people. I communicate and connect with them instead. I help others with good old fashioned advice-financially, socially, mentally, and spiritually. I motivate people to get up and achieve their goals, start that new business, go after that promotion. How to tell that woman or man you want to get to know them or how to leave that bad relationship. I've been there. I motivate people to stop making excuses, stop saying 'can't do', and I'm going to use all my experiences to show you how."

Katrina Walker has taken adversity and transformed her life into a true American success story. She now continues on her mission to help others find their own positive transformations.

Walker is writing her memoir with award-winning journalist Clarence Waldron, former Jet senior writer and editor, who was mentored by the late best-selling author and poet, Dr. Maya Angelou.

FLASHBACK: Melvin Williams first solo recording

buzzz worthy. . .

MELVIN WILLIAMS' CRAZY LOVE: Williams gives West Coast Church a taste of
his first solo project

Britney Spears' dream propels a new realm of ministry for gospel great

For the first time in his superlative 40-year career, gospel
recording artist, Melvin Williams of the famed Williams Brothers will
debut his new solo CD on January 23, 2007.

As a part of the Christmas Celebration and pastor's appreciation
at St. Reed Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles on Dec. 1, Melvin's
promotional performance, reassured the intimate crowd that Jesus won't
let them down. Williams' vision on this extremely diverse recording
exemplifies his personal belief in God's essential and unequivocal love.

This new project speaks of the reality of our daily life of
relationships filled with and requiring LOVE - a selfless love, a
committed love, a cordial love, and an admired, unconditional love that
requires of us to give as Christ gave himself for us - The greatest
sacrifice of Love the world has ever seen.--"A Crazy Kind of Love."
Entitled "Crazy Like Love" and "Love Like Crazy", he offers
interpretations of God's love with "Jesus Is Love" (Commodores) as the
lead single currently being heard on radio stations around the nation.
The Williams Brothers had recorded the universally loved Commodores
classic, but the song never made it on one of their albums. As the CEO
of Blackberry Records, his very own label, the well-loved singer
exercised the authority to include one of his favorite songs on the

The title for the solo recording came to Williams in a dream,
which involved, 'of all people,' Pop Princess Britney Spears. The
singer explains:

"Crazy like love is really talking about the love that Christ has
for all people. You know I had this dream. I was at this truck stop
and I met Britney Spears 'of all people.' We were talking about people
loving each other in the South and I said, 'If every body had that crazy
like love like Christ had, the world would be a better place.' That
morning when I woke up, I still had that crazy like love thing in my
spirit and I said this would be an awesome title for an album."

Williams' distinctive vocals, high energy and heartfelt delivery is in a
category all its own and can be heard with each artist he shares the
stage with as shown in his impactful lyrics and emotional delivery by
both Williams and the late R&B recording artist, Gerald Levert on "Why
Aren't You Loving Me?" The song was recorded in an Ohio studio and
Williams produced Levert's part.

Williams speaks fondly of their short-lived professional
relationship that began when Stevie Wonder recommended that he reach out
to record that song: "For the short time that I knew him, he was just
like what every body says. Always had that big smile. A generous guy
who would give you the shirt off his back.   I ended up producing him
and I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm producing this guy.' God just allowed
him to be here long enough to do that with me." After months of working
with both artists' hectic schedules, the recording took place September
25, 2006…this would be Levert's last studio recording before his
untimely passing on November 10, 2006.

This project will intentionally introduce a "I wanted to do
something different on this project because a lot of people don't know
that I was vocally trained from the fourth grade to two years and
college."   He reminisces on how and he brothers Leonard and Doug sang
all kinds of music, including folk, classical and Negro Spirituals.

With this project fans will see Melvin Williams at his versatile
best as he delivers a potpourri of traditional and contemporary music.
Even before cross-genre collaborations became popular Williams paired
with secular artists like Stevie Wonder, Steve Winwood, and James Taylor
to name a few.

Gospel remains Williams' base, but some of his favorite artists
across all genres grace the project such as Bill Withers' "You Just
Can't Smile It Away" with a special appearance by renowned jazz
saxophonist, Kurt Whalum, Stevie Wonders' "Too Shy To Say" and Curtis
Mayfield's "Keep On Pushing". Another soulful, unique recording artist,
Anthony Hamilton lends his vocals in collaboration with Williams on "Let
It Go" - a self-reflective, cleansing song. And of course, he teams up
with some of the finest voices in gospel music including Lee Williams,
his youngest brother Melvin, Fred Hammond, Bishop Walter Hawkins, and
Bishop Neal Roberson.

Williams rounds out his motley musical palette with Hip-Hop
selections. The Tracy Worth penned production of "Say It Out Loud"
features IROCC. Plus, the collaboration with up-and-coming sought after
songwriter & producer, Stan Jones on the very contemporary "In You". An
intense tribute to women is delivered in the jazzy music styling of the
original spoken word selection "Who Am I". Making sure not to leave any
stone unturned, Williams closes the session with a classical arrangement
of Andrae Crouch's "To God Be The Glory" by Howard University's very own
renowned classical pianist, Dana Kristina-Joi Morgan.

Never wavering, Williams remains true to his father, Leon "Pop"
Williams' vision for his children to minister songs that will make a
difference in peoples lives offering hope, encouragement and love.

With over 6 Grammy nominations, a host of Stellar and Dove Awards it is no wonder  his latest two separate solo CD releases are the most anticipated
releases of 2007!

Melvin Williams' passionate delivery triggered a 15-20 minute
reprise of "Jesus is Love" with echoes and solos flowing liberally from
the congregants. Expect much of the same power from his first solo CD.

Freelancers, hold on 'help is on the way'

A huge "way to go" to Sara Horowitz, Leader of the Freelancers Union for bringing the issue of non-payment to the attention of President Obama on Wednesday at the White House during the WHITE HOUSE SUMMIT FOR WORKER VOICE TOWN HALL. Sara represents a class of workers that are often overlooked in labor relations conversations. She was able to really paint the picture of of the challenges freelancers face explaining to Mr. Obama, "The average freelancer have been stiffed 6,000 dollars a year."

The Freelancers Union is based is a national organization based in New York and is 300,000 members strong.

As an independent contractor, I added my voice to the collective thousands in the Freelance Union who are hoping help freelancers not only get paid, but in a timely manner.  It is all too common in writing, entertainment and faith based sector for clients to stiff contractors for work they have  performed --even with contracts in place.  This fleecing also happens in more traditional environments and there is no legislation in place to protect freelancers.  The only repercution to recoup loss is small claims court, which could be a greater financial burden.
That's why Sara speaking to Pres. Obama
