Breaking overnight: Several dead in a mass shooting at an Orlando, FL night club

A possible hate crime is developing in Orlando, FL. The Orange County Sheriffs Department responded just after 2 a.m. to Pulse, a popular gay night club located in the south side of the city where several people were killed.The number of fatalities has not been confirmed but authorities said in a press conference Sunday morning casualties are estimated at 20. Police are investigating the shooting as an act of domestic terror and have yet to confirm if the lone wolf shooter had any assistance. Approximately 320 people were in the club, police rescued 30, 42 were taken to area hospitals to be treated for injuries Police Chief John Mina said at the press conference. The shooter, who entered the building with a handgun and high powered assault rifle, was killed in a hostage styled shoot out with police. Police say the shooter is not from the area. Another suspicious device that may be an explosive was attached to his body.

Senseless gun violence rocked Orlando a day earlier.

Former Voice contestant Christina Grimmie was shot and killed 3 blocks away from Pulse on Friday night. She was signing autographs following what would be her final performance when she was gunned down. The suspect turned the gun on himself. Police said they do not believe the incidents are related.
