At the National Policy Institute meeting held in the Reagan Builiding in Washington, DC on November 19, supporters of the #AltRight group were videotaped raising the Nazi salute. Richard Spencer, head of the Institute yelled from the podium,"Hail Trump! Hail our people! Hail victory!" Spencer condemned the media for being biased against Donald J. Trump, but boasted the media has given their movement a "boost."

The focus of the group appears to be to return to a time when Whites are the dominant racial group again. He said, "America was, until this past generation, a white country, designed for ourselves and our posterity. It is our creation, it is our inheritance, and it belongs to us."

This video is a disturbing example of normalizing White Nationalism as it has gone mainstream. This group is not hiding behind masks like the KKK, but proudly proclaiming their supremacy in the nation's capitol and allowing a reporter to document it.

The group was also seen raising the salute in Maggiano's Restaurant and the popular eatery released a statement apologizing saying the group registered their event under a different name. Popular internet star was Tila Tequila was front an center in the with her hand raised. While she is of Asian heritage Tequila claims to be a White Supremacist. The election of Trump has emboldened White Nationalists throughout the country.

It is a widely held belief that the election of Donald Trump has emboldened racists and hate groups. The media criticied Trum for not denouncig such groups during he campaign as they consistently showed up at this rallies.

In response to this video Trump released a statement denouncing racism of any kind and said he will be a president for all people.

Despite holding extremist racial views, Spencer denies being a racist.

UPDATE 8:00 A.M., Nov. 22, 2016

Richard Spencer was a guest on TV One's News One Now program hosted by Roland Martin.  Martin posed questions about the racist nature of the ideology Spencer espouses. Spencer spoke of whites being geniuses who build societies and refused to accept that Egyptians were African when challenged on his faulty position.  Some of the claims that Spencer was unable to successfully argue are:

  • All races are not equal naturally
  • There is racial ineqaulity against Whites
  • Whites are not hired in the federal government and in Silicon Valley
  • European Whites built America

Martin told Spencer he had better prepare his generation because Blacks aren't going anywhere. Spencer replied that Martin has been dealing with a bunch of guilt ridden Whites and those who are not are rising up and they will win.
