Dr. Bobby Jones and Singletons to headline jazz fest in Italy

On Dec. 28, Bobby Jones will headline the world famous Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy. One of the most prestigious jazz festivals in the world, the Umbria Jazz Festival has been held annually in the twin cities of Orvieto and Perugia since 1973 and is celebrating it's 40th anniversary this year.
Accompanied by his band & the Singletons family, Bobby Jones has long been a fan favorite of European audiences and the anticipation is an all-time this year with the release of his new CD “Rejoice With Me!” on EchoPark JDI according to label owner James Roberson.

Billboard's best of 2013

Billboard magazine has announced its best of list for the year 2013.  Based on record sales as determined by Nielsen BDS and chart status Justin Timberlake had the best album of the year.  The magazine named Singer Bruno Mars Billboard's 2013 Artist of the Year.Mars topped eight of Billboard's year-end music chart lists, including the Hot 100 Artists, Mainstream Top 40 and Hot Digital Songs, and his 2012 album "Unorthodox Jukebox" has becoming one of this year's bestselling records with more than 1.8 million copies sold in the United States.

The top 10 from the top 200 albums of the year are:

1. 20/20 Experience" - Justin Timberlake
2. "Red" - Taylor Swift
3. "Take Me Home" - One Direction
4. "Unorthodox Jukebox" - Bruno Mars

Jonathan Klein, CEO of Getty Images looked to major events to narrow down the best photos of 2013.  The prestigious photo organization chose 44 photographs from around the world. Tragedy was a common vein in the images. President Obama is in 4 of the photos.

Earlier today, the Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The Bidens visited with patients and their families to thank them for their service to and sacrifice for our country.

Justin Bieber announces retirement

Justin Bieber 's fans don't know what to "Belieb."   The 19-year-old crooner announced his retirement today via  a tweet. "My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring," he wrote.

Shortly thereafter he said he would be with his fans "forever."    That does not tell us if he is dropping the mic for good and will remain with his followers "in spirit", or  if the first tweet was just a publicity tease or true.

What we do know is that it's been a rough year for the singer. The "Beleive,"  documentary that chronicles his world tour by the same name just came out.  Many of the moments that gave him a wanna be "bad boy" image are highlighted in the film.   This year Bieber had a few brushes with the law at home and abroad.  In London he fainted on stage and had a run in with a paparazzo.  Plus, his break up with Selen aGomez was public. First Lady Michelle Obama speaks to America's Children on Christmas Eve

Even thought First Lady Michelle Obama is on a Winter Break in Hawaii with the First Family Mrs. Obama kept the tradition of answering calls from children from across the country seeking Santa's whereabouts.  
Mrs. Obama  spoke to children for nearly half an hour as part of the annual NORAD Tracks Santa program run by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). This is the First Lady's fourth year participating in this Christmas Eve tradition.

Background on the NORAD Tracks Santa Program
The NORAD Tracks Santa program began in 1955 after a phone call was made to the Continental Air Defense Command Operations Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The call was from a local youngster who dialed a misprinted telephone number in a local newspaper advertisement. The commander on duty who answered the phone that night gave the youngster the information requested - the whereabouts of Santa. POTUS is enjoying family and friends on busy vacation in Hawaii

President Obama has escaped to Hawaii for his annual holiday vacay, but he is staying active on the isle of Oahu and keeping an eye on Obamacare progress.    

On Sunday the family attended a college basketball game on the campus of the University of Hawaii. The University of Akron Zips played the Oregon State Beavers, coached by first ladyMichelle Obama’s brother,Craig Robinson. The game was held on the campus of the University of Hawaii.

He started the day with a  sunrise workout at the gym on the Marine Corp Base at Kaneohe Bay, which included basketball.  In the afternoon he slowed things down a bit playing 18 holes of golf at Mid-PAC Country Club at Mid-Pacific Country Club in the neighborhood of Lanikai, an exclusive residential area of Kailua where the President’s vacation rental is located.
