Amen "Rev. President": Highlights from the Eulogy of Rev.Cementa Pinkney

buzzz worthy. . .

"What a good man," says Pres. Obama of Rev. Pinckney. "Sometimes, I think that’s the best thing to hope for when you’re eulogized — to just say somebody was a good man."

PRESIDENT OBAMA ADDRESSES REBEL FLAG CONTROVERSY AT FUNERAL OF REV. CLEMENTA PINCKNEY: "It is true that a flag did not cause these murders. . .but as we all have to acknowledge the flag has always represented more than just ancestral pride. For many black an white that flag was a reminder of systemic oppression and racial subjugation. We see that now. Removing the flag from this it would be an acknowledgement that the cause for which the fought. . .the cause of slavery was wrong. The imposition of Jim Crow after the Civil War, the resistance to Civil Rights for all people was wrong. It would be one step in an honest accounting in America's history a modest, but meaningful balm for so many unhealed wounds. . .By taking own that flag, we express God's grace. . . By making the moral choice to change we express God's grace. We don't earn grace. We are all sinners, but God gives it to us anyway. . .It is our decision how we honor it. "
