EDITORIAL: GOP at fault for barriers in reuniting migrant children to familes

The U.S. government is struggling to  manage the immigration border debacle.  On CNN Friday morning Rick Santorum said that there are legal impediments to reuniting immigrant families with their children.  Puzzled as to why, Allison Camerota asked o you know of a process whereby the parents will ever see their children again?”  In the past there was a problem with children getting back to their parents and instead being handed off to the wrong person. The fragmented reunification process was of their own making, wheter out of tension from knowing everyone is watching or following a zero tolerance rule gop lawmakers made up in April. Santorum said, "Some parents will and some parents won't because some parents have already been deported." Camerota asked him if he knew of any process that will reunite these parents with their children she also pointed out that the number of children and parents that have been separated is unknown the practice of separating families appears to have begun accelerating last year long before Zero Tolerance was announced in the spring among these cases according to records and interviews there are many that have happened at Port of Entry court filings describe numerous cases in recent months and which families were separated after presenting themselves at the Port of Entry to ask for Asylum that's from Paloma Esquivel of the Los Angeles Times with respect to the SLE application Rick Santorum ( says that there is not a problem with the policy of administration but a policy with enforcement.  The Trump Administration doesn't need a court-mandated deadline to reunite children and their parents within a week from today the Department of Health and Human Services previously reported that there were about 2,500 parents and children separated at this point we just don't know those numbers came out 2 weeks ago and then a week later the number had changed "Have the solutin. tell people not to fcome to our countyr illeglly. Come like other [eople do. Come leglly." Sec 208 of the INA says that it is not illegal

“The answer to that question is some parents will and some won’t,” Santorum answered, “because some parents have been deported.”

Camerota continued to fact-check Santorum after he insisted Trump’s policy didn’t take children away from families who sought asylum through the proper immigration channels.
