Two hundred forty-three years ago today, our Founding Fathers, gathered in Philadelphia, adopted the Declaration of Independence and cast off the shackles of tyranny.  They boldly proclaimed the inherent truth that each individual has unalienable rights that come from our Creator, and that among them are the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  As we celebrate these rights upon which our Nation was built, we also recognize the courageous men and women of our Armed Forces who have valiantly defended them.

Press Secretary Grisham slams ruling to stop detaining immigrants

A federal judge's ruling to stop the detention of asylum-seekers until they have been processed in to the U.S. is only going to make security matters worse at the U.S./Mexico border  according to a press statement from Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham.  Grisham swiftly criticized U.S. Judge Marsha Pechman for protections that would prevent would-be citizen from being jailed and  said it was unconstitutional to detain them, saying, "The court's injunction is at war with the rule of law."

Yesterday, a single, unelected district judge in Seattle issued an injunction that prevents the government from ensuring the detention of those aliens who cross the border unlawfully until the completion of their immigration court proceedings.  The decision ignores an express statutory prohibition on granting class-wide injunctive relief against enforcement of the immigration laws and also holds unconstitutional a statute passed by bipartisan majorit…
