Higher Ground

In this crazy world you need something to uplift your spirit.  You will find it here.

"Don't over-stay your welcome."

It is utterly awkward to be some place only to realize you are in the presence of your enemies or individuals who make it clear subliminally or directly that they don't want you around, but it isn't convenient to leave. Instinctively, most people will leave when they detect an air of rejection, but there are moments when you must stay when the welcome is worn. In those instances, weigh the value of the experience. Will you gain anything by staying or lose anything by leaving? Does your success depend on existing in the same space as competitors or those who are innately against you? Will remaining in uncomfortable situations interfere with you attaining a goal? While you may not want to deal with being in an unwelcome environment, there are times when a particular place is where you belong and are placed for the purpose of growth, promotion and elevation. Stay the course, if you must. Dust your feet off and sit for while in those situations to achieve your goal, but don't stay too long. Know when you are wasting time and have enough dignity to walk away with your peace, pride and self-respect in tact.

Escaping the traps of life
Potiphar's wife longed to be intimate with Joseph. Joseph, a slave, refused to lay with the master's wife despite her persistent sexual advances. Each time she pursued him Joseph refused. Potiphar had given Joseph charge over all of his possessions -- everything except his wife. One day when no one else was around she grabbed Joseph's garment asking him to lie with her again. "How can I sin against God?," he asked. He ran away leaving the garment in her hand. She lied to her husband saying the servant Joseph had mocked her, presenting his garment as proof that he had been with her. Potiphar sent Joseph to prison, but while he was in bondage God continued to have mercy on him and caused everything he did to prosper.

On the surface it looked as if Joseph was doomed. Because he honored his heavenly and earthly master, God allowed Joseph to succeed. When we commit our lives to God, no weapon (or trap) formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE
Genesis 39
19 So it was, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, “Your servant did to me after this manner,” that his anger was aroused. 20 Then Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison. 21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. 23 The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority,[a] because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.
