THE LATEST ON PRODUCER STAN 'STANTASTIC' JONES
WITH FRESH STEAM FROM YEAR END ACCOMPLISHMENTS LINGERING, NEW VENTURES INCLUDING A THREE MONTH RUN AS MUSIC DIRECTOR FOR ACCLAIMED WRITER JD LAWRENCE KICKS OFF
Stan Jones is a fast-rising Producer and Songwriter in Gospel music whose gifts have continued to amass inevitable awards and recognition.
Delivering Stan his second Grammy nomination is The Williams Brothers’ The Journey Continues album for which he receives production, songwriting and engineering credit. He remains on Billboard charts at 41 weeks for contribution to the Brian Courtney Wilson inaugural record and was recently hand-picked by JD Lawrence to oversee Music Direction for a new production which tours 21 cities and kicks off February 5 in South Carolina. As well, Jones penned the powerful worship tune “He Has His Hand on You” which will appear on the highly-anticipated Verity Records release, Here I Am due in March from Marvin Sapp.
Not taking a backseat to the artists he’s confirmed to write and produce with this year is a solo record from Stan Jones. Using an approach which some may call ‘risky,’ Jones is reaching out to select writers and producers, accepting submissions for his project rather than keeping everything in-house. Stan says “I’m trying something different and I’m excited.”
Stan Jones may not yet be a household name but producers, songwriters, artists and industry executives alike are aware of this bubbling under triple-threat who has already crossed into unchartered territory. “It’s clearly the grace of God that has stretched me beyond what others have been able to do; allowing me to write and produce hit songs from quartet, to traditional choir, to contemporary gospel. I thank God for the prosperity I've experienced thus far,” shares Jones.
Billboard Magazine 2009 year-end results highlighted Stan Jones as #11 Hot Gospel Publishers (Above STANdard Publishing/ASCAP), #12 Hot Gospel Producers, #14 Hot Gospel Songwriters and #19 Hot Gospel Songs.
Noteworthy 2009 projects include production and songwriting credit on the break-through debut release of Spirit Rising/Music World Entertainment artist Brian Courtney Wilson. Wilson’s lead single "All I Need" (written and produced by Jones) is currently #9 on the Billboard Top Gospel Songs chart and has remained on for 43 wks. This song (and Wilson’s “Already Here” also produced by Jones) was instrumental in solidifying Mathew Knowles’ Spirit Rising/Music World Entertainment the #10 Spot for Hottest Gospel Songs Label on the 2009 Year End Billboard charts.
Other recent Top 30 Gospel Songs from Jones include The Williams Brothers’ “Stand On His Word" feat. Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams’ "Hold On," (featured on WOW Gospel and the Hidden Beach Barack Obama Commemorative CD featuring artists including John Legend and Kanye West) and Tim Rogers & The Fellas’ "Happy."
Stan Jones began demonstrating his range of artistic gifts at age 12. Born into a musically inclined family as the eldest son of a choir director and former R&B guitarist turned Minister of Music now Pastor, Stan grew up listening to an array of artists but early favorites included Commissioned and The Winans. Leaving home immediately after High School to handle production duties and play drums for The Bolton Brothers laid the foundation for his career path as well as mentorship by The Williams Brothers which subsequently led to his first album placement: “What’s Wrong With Right” on Doug Williams’ solo debut. Today, the 2x Grammy nominee, 7x Stellar Award winner and 8x Mississippi Gospel Award winning singer/songwriter/producer resides in Jackson, MS where he is co-owner of Terminal Studios along with Doug and Melvin Williams.
