300K+ Social Media Followers Encouraged to Tune-In to BLIS.FM for African American Political Perspective on Thursday, October 11, 16 and 22

NEW YORK - October 9, 2012 - Citing a void in the marketplace for African American perspective during this year's election season, award-winning journalists Roland S. Martin, host and managing editor of TV One's "WASHINGTON WATCH WITH ROLAND MARTIN" and Jeff Johnson, social activist and political commentator, have teamed up to provide weekly pre- and post-debate analysis via live web streaming during a special edition of Johnson's weekly BLIS.FM show, "THE INTERSECTION."  "THE INTERSECTION PRESENTS: OUR VOICE, OUR VOTE" airs Thursday, October 11, 2012 beginning at 8:30 pm ET.

"As contributors to the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Jeff and I know the power of the Black perspective and the need for a breakdown of our issues from our perspective," said Martin. "We see this broadcast as an opportunity to get a fuller understanding of the candidates and where they stand on the issues that affect the nation's 40 million African Americans."

Martin and Johnson will provide running commentary and offer astute observations from a uniquely African American point-of-view on the Vice Presidential Debate between Democratic incumbent Vice President Joe Biden and GOP challenger Congressman Paul Ryan.  Throughout the evening, Martin and Johnson will tweet updates and analysis using the hashtag #OurVoteMatters.

The journalists are encouraging their nearly 300,000 social media fans to follow them on Twitter @RolandSMartin and @JeffsNation, then join the discussion by posting comments, posing questions or retweeting statements with the goal of creating trending topics.  Viewers may also join the live Facebook chat online via

The weekly online debate analysis will be hosted by Martin and Johnson during each of the remaining presidential debates to be held October 16th and 22nd.

"This election is critical to the future growth of America and we all need to be engaged in the process," said Johnson, "Roland and I want to encourage everyone to understand the candidate's policies on the topics that matter most to them; and they can trust that we will be there to present the facts and provide analysis to help them make informed decisions at the polls."

Johnson will dissect the candidates' debate performance from the Nation's Capitol while on location at Studio 202, a digital media facility donated by proprietor Ron Dixon (this location not open to public). Reporting live from New York City, Martin's webcast will be held during the non-partisan VP debate viewing party presented by the Young Professionals United for Change (YP4C) and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) at Katra Lounge, 217 Bowery Street, NY 10002.
