History plans a Roots remake

buzzz worthy. . .The History Channel has acquired the rights to re-make the slavery miniseries "Roots."   The network plans to turn the original 12 hour movie into 8 hours by 2015.  Based on the family histroy of Alex Haley and the book he penned by the dame name, "Roots" was a major television success having won several Emmys.  History wants to create a more contemporary version of the story.

Winans, Sr. has wed his long time girlfriend Deneen R. Carter. Carter is a 57-year-old physical therapist and minister at Perfecting Church in Detroit, founded by Winans. Little is known about the bride publicly. The gospel legend introduced the now Mrs. Winans as his fiance to the congregants of Perfecting in October of 2021. The couple had been in a relationship for 15 years. Pastor Winans was previously married to fellow gospel singer Vicki Winans (with whom he has two sons) for 16 years before they divorced in 1995. By Mona Austin Much of what the average American knows about Frederick Douglass lies in the pages of "The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave."  His memory has lived on through the annals of history as a heroic abolitionist. A recent article revered Douglass  as "A king among men."  Note to The Atlantic writer who wrote those words in the article  Memo to the White House on the Contributions of Frederick Douglass  --  applying t hat very Biblical reference to Douglass is an overstatement.  The article was a response  to President Donald Trump saying at a White House "Listening Session " on Black History Month that   Douglass is  “an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice.”  The Atlantic article was intended to show Mr.Trump and others who may be ignorant of his significance that Douglass was not on the sidelines of Bl...
