Radio vet hosts summit for gospel music hopefuls in Maryland on Nov. 15-16

Veteran radio executive and gospel announcer Lee Michaels of Baltimore's Heaven 600 will play host to The East Coast Gospel Music Summit & Showcase at a kick off concert on Friday, November 15 in Baltimore, MD.
The 2-day event provides a forum to educate aspiring artists about what it takes to break into the music industry and sustain a career in music. The summit features expert panelists, new, aspiring and well established national recording artists.
The event will be held on Friday, November 15 and Saturday November 16 at Manifest Wonders Christian Center where Michaels is also the pastor. The summit will open with a 5:30 p.m. pre-concert of rising gospel stars such as Brandon Camphor and Nikea. Then, at 7 p.m. Micah Stampley conducts a presentation on the role of a psalmist. Legendary record executive Vicki Mack follows with a panel entitled, “Am I ready for this?” There will also be a panel on how to get songs played on the radio and a discussion the art of negotiating a recording contract. Then, the big concert of young stars kicks off and caps the evening with a joyful noise.
Saturday morning commences with a continental breakfast followed by devotional music by Hope Askew and an inspirational word by a guest speaker. There are also morning educational sessions on copyrighting music, songwriting skills and understanding Soundscan and BDS charts. Veteran choirmaster Lamar Campbell leads early afternoon worship that precedes a spiritual word from another guest speaker. Other educational panels follow with top record label executives such as April Washington, Kerry Douglas, D.A. Johnson, Troy Sneed, Humilitee, Tracey Artis and Vernice Watson.
There are showcases of up-and-coming talent before the finale concert starring Troy Sneed, Ami Rushes, Half Mile Home, Chanel from Trin-i-tee 5:7), Anastasia, Trey Howard, Signature and Restin Jackson.
