Bowser beats Gray in DC Mayor's Race

buzzz worthy. . .

DC Councilwoman Murial Bowser, 41 unseated Vincent Gray in the DC primary mayoral race on April 1.  The final tally  was 44% to 32%, separated by some 9,000 votes. The now former mayor has conceded.

The latter part of Gray's career was wrought with scandal, a factor Bowser, an ex-DC Mayor Andrian Fenty mentee, used against him.

Gray was the subject of a federal investigation that alleged he accepted a $425,000 campaign donation in 2010 from billionaire contractor, Jeffrey Thompson (code name "Uncle Earl"), in exchange for business favors. The embattled former mayor denied those allegations, but Thompson two weeks ago Thompson pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges for a lesser sentence.
Who Bowser will face in the general election is yet to be determined.
