Brent Jones on the rise with "He Rose"

Choirmaster Brent Jones is on the rise again with a new hit single, "He Rose." Following his return form a seven-year recording hiatus, the Grammy and Stellar Award winner  continues to soar on Billboard with the catchy tune jumping to #6 this week. "He Rose" is from his new release “Joy Comin” on EchoPark JDI.

Jones is renowned for his mega hits "Don't Wait Til Midnight" (featuring Coko from SWV) and his urban AC smash "Goodtime", which topped the Billboard Charts for 47+ weeks and dominated the BET video charts.

"I am a choir master at heart & I am just thrilled that churches and radio everywhere have embraced ‘He Rose’ and made it into a church anthem” says Jones. “I was recently invited to minister ‘He Rose’ on Bobby Jones Gospel as well as at the national GMWA Convention in Atlanta and boy, we had crazy church!”

Jones is no stranger to the DC metro area where he formerly served as  the you pastor at Maryland's Ebenezer AME alongside fellow recording artists Byron Cage and Ernest Pugh.  He and his family have sense relocated to the West Coast.

Most known for blazing the path for urban gospel music with his trendsetting group T.P. (Total Praise) Mobb, Jones  share the totality of the gift God has given him with this new choir project (Joy Comin') featuring He Rose

"Nothing gives me more joy than visiting local choir rehearsals and inspiring sopranos, altos, and tenors to smile, laugh, sing praises, dance and to just have a goodtime in Jesus' name. So I am super-excited about this new project and my new partnership with EchoPark JDI" says Jones.  

The entire album is a reminder of Baptist church musicals. "Joy Comin" A diverse 12 song collection featuring gospel music that will carry listeners from Sunday morning to Saturday afternoon.

Alabama Pastor Shot and Killed in Domestic Incident

Pastor Da’Quarius Green , a 31-year-old leader of Elba Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama, was shot on Dec. 23, 2025 and died several days later in the hospital after a domestic dispute at his home in Level Plains . Authorities have described the shooting as a “domestic incident” involving his wife,  𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐲. Local news station WTVY reported "c ourt records show that Green was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence charges 3 times in Houston County last year, with each of those cases dismissed. Also in 2024, a woman filed a protection order against Green in Houston County in which she believed him to be a danger," but did not confirm Mrs. Massey as the suspect.    Various reports indicate the couple's children were present when he was shot in the head.   In one instance, a woman who shared children with Green alleged that he repeatedly struck her , including once when she was pregnant.
