Hallelujah: Celebration of Gospel return to BET confirmed

buzzz worthy. . .

You heard it here first. . .

Hallelujah!  BET's break out special program, "Celebration of  Gospel" will return to the network in January of 2016.  Performances for the "15th Annual Celebration of Gospel" will  taped on December 5, 2015 and  premiere in January 2016.

The network included the program in an announcement of its acclaimed mega-specials for 2015, which begins with the airing of the "BET Honors" during Black History Month. One of the largest platforms for gospel artists, "Celebration  of Gospel" features spirited performances  by some of today’s hottest and most talented artists from the worlds of gospel and R&B.

In 2014 following its highest rated showing in 14 years, reports alleging the show's cancellation were the talk of the industry.

This writer  directly verified via  a BET Executive  that the show was never "cancelled," but it was not included among the list of special programs at an annual upfront event as details were still in the works.

The confirmation of the return of one of the network's most watched programs will be a welcome relief for lovers of gospel music everywhere.

With a date scheduled  in the latter part of the year planners at network have essentially gone back to the a former template when most of the tapings were held in the late fall early winter time frame.  In recent years recordings were switched to Spring. This new date technically means "Celebration of Gospel" won't have graced the air waves for over a year, but better late than never.

Throughout the years the "Celebration of Gospel" stage has been the home of  some of the most spiritually uplifting performances and collaborations in music.   Whitney Houston sang at the musical celebration in her final televised performance before her untimely death.

The location of the taping, host, performers and specific air dates will be revealed at a later date.
