TUNE-IN ALERT - HAPPENING 1/11/16: Fusion to broadcast Iowa Brown and Black Presidential Forum for Democratic candidates

buzzz worthy. . .

On January 11, Democratic Candidates Will Head To Des Moines To Discuss Issues Affecting a Multicultural Nation
All Democratic candidates will appear at the event tonight, but they will be interviewed separately in keeping with DNC rules.
FUSION  will broadcast the Iowa Brown and Black Presidential Forum for Democratic candidates on January 11, 2016. The event, organized by FUSION and the non-partisan minority issues organization co-chaired by Latino Leader Mary Campos and former Iowa State Representative Wayne Ford, will focus on where the candidates stand on issues that matter to America’s growing multicultural population. This marks the first Presidential forum FUSION will host since its launch in October 2013.
The Forum will be broadcast on FUSION from Des Moines, Iowa. The moderators, which will include a FUSION reporter and panel members, will be announced at a later date. Candidates who have already accepted the invitation to join the Forum include former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley. An invitation is out to Senator Bernie Sanders.
Billed as the oldest Forum addressing minority issues, the Iowa Brown & Black Presidential Forum is an element of Urban Dreams’ non-partisan Project V.O.T.E. (Voting Opportunities Through Education). It is the nation’s only presidential forum in which all candidates have the opportunity to answer essential concerns of African-Americans and Latinos. The non-partisan event began in 1984 and has figured prominently in the Iowa caucuses. It is recognized as the oldest continuous minority forum for presidential candidates in America and one of the longest-running presidential forums in the nation.
“I am thrilled to see FUSION hosting its first presidential forum in partnership with a non-partisan organization started by two visionary leaders like Mary Campos and Wayne Ford,” said FUSION CEO Isaac Lee. “FUSION’s goal over the next year is to cover the issues that affect and matter to the diverse generation inheriting the future of this country. This forum will provide a great vehicle to have meaningful conversations with several Presidential candidates that will get to the heart of those issues.”
“With issues of race dominating headlines today and as our country heads towards a time when today’s minorities will collectively become the majority, there is no better place than the Iowa Brown & Black Presidential Forum for the candidates to speak directly on these topics,” said Brown & Black Co-ChairsMary Campos and Wayne Ford. “We’re happy to partner with FUSION to discuss the issues, challenges, and solutions as we Americans look toward the future.”
