Trump bends and signs unwanted budget bill
I am considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 23, 2018
Today in a press onference Preident DonaldTrump reluctantly compromised with Congress and signed a $1.3 trillion bill he said earlier he wanted to veto.
“As a matter of national security I’ve signed this omnibus budget bill. There are a lot of things I’m unhappy about in this bill,” Trump said. “I say to Congress: I will never sign another bill like this again.”
He'd tweeted a photo of the bill that looked like a few volumes of encyclopedias combined. "Nobody read this," he exclaimed. The absence of funding for the border wall and DACA were reasons he initially shared for opposing it.
Trump signed the budget in part because it included increased defense spending and raises for military. Milatary members have not ha a rase in 10 years he said.
In the future the president said he will require a line item veto on budget proposals.
