Aretha Franklin Gospel Tribute to be held at father's church

A gospel tribute celebrating the life of the recently departed Aretha Franklin will be held in Detroit, MI on August 27, more than a week after the Queen of Soul passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 76. The event will be held at her late father C.L. Franklin's church, New Bethel Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. Featured performers include:

A private funeral service will be held at the church on August 31. Franklin will be laid to rest beside her father.

This tribute event is one of several and is presented by the New Bethel Baptist Church and the C.L. Franklin Memorial Committee.
