Taffi Dollar opens religious eyes in book on gender eqaulity
The #metoo movement has reached the pulpit. Georgia based pastor, Taffi Dollar is one of few preachers who has broached the subject of gender equality with a non-sexist perspective. In her recent teachings, Dollar denounces patriarchy and embraces partnership and equality of the sexes at home and in society in the book "Gender Roles: A Grace Perspective/".
The God-given liberty of which she speaks has been down-played for centuries throughout the world. Dollar's teachings challenge gender bias in a biblically based, non-threatening manner by emphasizing Christ's example in how women should be treated. Through the Radical Women's Conference and her book, true women's liberation may discovered, as her empowering message is about liberating the spirit.
“We can clearly see that the roles of American men and women have changed over time,” notes Dollar in the new book.
“Women are now doing many of the jobs and holding positions in society that men used to dominate, while men are in roles that were once only designated to women,” she recognizes as gender roles evolve and that includes in the Church. With women rising from subservient positions publicly and privately, America may be upon a social revolution that could inspire stronger marriages and homes and most of all more widespread acceptance of women in church leadership roles. In the African American Church in particular, there are more women in the pews and as a norm they have been forced to remain on the sidelines in ministerial leadership. Taffi, the wife of Pastor Creflo Dollar, co-pastors the World Changes ministry located in College Park Georgia.
