Trump travels to swing state Michigan on impeachment day where Pence defends him

By Mona Austin

Pres. Trump woke up Wednesday morning expressing disbelief that he will likely be impeached today. He asked followers if they could believe the "do-nothing Democratics" are impeaching him. He won't be watching the impeachment, electing to pay attention to GOPers online who support him or FOX News, whose comments he likes to retweet. But, his team has his back and for now they are doing the talking.
The Vice Pres. arrived in Michigan ahead of the president for a separate event this morning and immediately started defending his tarnished legacy in light of impeachment.

"Thank you for being here on a blustery Michigan day, and a day when there's a lot of bluster in DC as well," he said.
"Truthfully, friends, what's happening on Capitol Hill today is a disgrace... the truth is they are trying to impeach this president because they know they can't defeat this president.

They're trying to run down this president because they know they can't run against our record...

They're pushing this partisan impeachment because they know they can't stop you from giving President Donald Trump four more years in the White House."
Continuing Pence went after Democrats's loyalty to the people claiming, "Tonight after a sham investigation, do-nothing Democrats are going to vote on a partisan impeachment seeking to overturn the will of the American people...

I remember when Nancy Pelosi said months ago she would never bring impeachment unless it was overwhelming, compelling and bipartisan... the only bipartisan vote will be a vote against the articles of impeachment against President Trump."

Pence went on to boast about the president's work to boost the economy, which Trump too will likely discuss at his rally tonight in Michigan, in addition to condemning the impeachment.

“The President will be working all day. He will be briefed by staff throughout that day, and could catch some of the proceedings between meetings," said his press Secretary Stephanie Grisham who appeared on Fox & Friends saying her boss will have more to say about the ordeal in Battle Creek, MI.

Trump will be in Battle Creek for a Make America Great Again campaign rally this evening.

Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin made the news following a controversial visit to Michigan over the weekend.

Slotkin is a freshman Democrat who won in a conservative district in Michigan. She was under fire there, receiving both boos and cheers from constituents in her district when she shared she will vote for the impeachment. Recognizing both Democrats and Republicans sent her to Washington, the former CIA agent said she is moving forward based on the oath of office and concerns for national security.. Slotkin worked under the National Security Counsel under George W. Bush and said she knows governments use power to "get what they want" since she has sat in on those calls (referring to call similar to the July 25 call been Pres. Trump and Pres. Vlodomyr Zelensky f the Ukraine that spurred the impeachment investigation.) But. she believes this is different because Pres. Trump used his authority for personal gain, a conclusion she came to after perusing pages of documents and the Constitution itself. For this politician, sticking to her oath is worth possibly not being re-elected.

Depending on today's outcome on impeachment, Michigan voters may or may not have an opportunity to re-elect Pres. Trump.
