Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is an example to elected officials everywhere in his stance on equal rights



(The Slice): Elected officials are expected to stand for equal rights under the law. Doing his part, the Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey wants the cop involved in the death of George Floyd to be charged he said Wednesday. Floyd, 46 died during an arrest for suspected forgery on Monday. Frey did not hesitate to voice his discontent and call out the racial overtones of the officer involved death of an unarmed Black man . The mayor has called for unspecified charges to be filed with Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman. Freeman had earlier said he would review the findings of an investigation by the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension before making a charging decision, promising an "expedited" process.

Frey told reporters he watched the video showing the white officer pressing his knee into Floyd's neck and thought if it was anyone else they would have been arrested. "I saw no threat. I saw nothing that would signal this kind of force was necessary." "If I had done it, or if you had done it, we would be behind bars right now," Frey said.



Meanwhile, the arresting officer has hired the same attorney of the policeman who killed Philado Castille, a Minnesotta who was shot at point blank range in his car.
