The Biden Administration will speed up the process for getting Harriet Tubman's face on the $20 Bill
The Biden Administration has vowed to accelerate the process to get Harriet Tubman on the face of the $20 bill. Steve Mnuchin, former Treasury Secretary under Donald Trump had postponed it until 2028 The twenty is the most frequently used note of U.S. currency. The abolistinist will replace Pres. Andrew Jackson, whose photo Trump had near the Resolute Desk, which current Pres. Joe Biden replaced with a phot of Benjamin Franklin.
When the idea was introduced to Trump he said the suggestion to change the face on the currency was "pure political correctness" and offered to place Tubman on the more scares $2 bill. Supporter of the twenty-dollar bill redesign felt this suggestion was a slight since the two dollar bill is rarely used.
“It’s important that our notes, our money … reflect the history and diversity of our country, and Harriet Tubman’s image gracing the new $20 note would certainly reflect that,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said.
“So we’re exploring ways to speed up that effort.”
