MONSTROUS CLAIM: Kerrion Franklin calls famous father Kirk "my molester"
REVELATIONS PERSISTS IN UNVEILING THE TUMULTUOUS RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KIRK AND HIS SON KERRION FRANKLIN
Update: Both camps have indicated there are recordings of their past disputes.
The Slice Report is learning that the feuding between Kirk and Kerrion Franklin could be agitated by another recording that may not have come from either man.
Try to keep up with this unraveling ball of yarn with this Slice Report explainer...
This second recording is a so called "receipt" perpetrating new allegations and is from an unknown source. The latest development is an accusation of Kerrion calling his father his "molester" during said call. . .
Kerrion Franklin, the eldest child of gospel artist Kirk Franklin, has previously alleged that his father tried to kill him. The elder Franklin said he and his son have had issues for years and he was growing increasingly aggressive in an interview with Tamron Hall which his mother confirmed in a separate interview. They have both sought help and expressed the mutual desire to continue to help the child they conceived as teenagers. However, neither interview revealed the root cause of the apparent dysfunction between father and son.
The gospel artists said he was surprised when the initial audio was exposed. Kerrion has yet to speak publicly about the ordeal and may not have leaked the second audio recording, which was reveled on the Armon Wiggins Show. In regard to the first recording he disagrees with his father. He defends himself against potential entrapment claims saying, "He got the recordings I didn't record him without him knowing he knows I'm always recording and still provokingly talks to me wild very often too often [sic]."
In the second audio leak Kerrion's aggressive temperament is revealed as he argues with someone who he tells he will "spit in their face."
To be fair we do not know what contributed to the tense atmosphere or what triggered his flippant retort. He is reacting in a group setting to someone taunting him by playing his father's music." The person refers to Kerrion as a "girl' which is jargon gays commonly use amongst themselves and he mentions being "the devil'' a word they called him behind his back he says. Kerrion's sexuality has been presumed as gay by some on social media as he is addressing in this spat with two people who seemingly insulted him either in the moment or the internet rumor mill.
It is hard to decipher what transpired in the heat of the moment. They appeared to be a part of a group therapy retreat. At one point he tells the male speaking that he is no longer flirting with him and no longer wants to "f$ck" him. The female in the room banters with him over his accomplishments or the lack thereof. He says, "I am the son of a famous f$ck," continuing to state he is also a poet. He never mentions his father's name. As his frustration heightens he tells them he thought they were supposed to be his family and they are not. This is a classic example of the saying "hurt people, hurt people." Kerrion is clearly emotionally bruised and mother seems to know the depth and source of the pain and is trying to reel him in. Shortly thereafter someone plays Kirk Franklin's "Brighter Day'," as if they are trying to get a reaction to see if their suspicions about whose son Kerrion is are correct, after which he says, "Man quit playing my molestor's music."
"Wow, I will turn it off," a male in the room says. The music ends. "Remember I said he was the one. I knew it."
Molestation is a term used legally in reference to the sexual abuse of children, typically. By definition molestation is "The unwelcome touching or fondling—typically understood to be by an older person or one who is a position of authority—of a child or younger person or subordinate. (Segen's Medical Dictionary). This allegation suggests that Kerrion is wrestling with a sexual abuse trauma by his father when he was under age. He is currently age 32 and perhaps still addressing lingering anguish, guilt and shame from the alleged experience. If he opened up in this setting about his past and tried to protect his father by never releasing his name, this tape could be a crucial piece of evidence in revealing the root cause of their disrespect toward each other.
Keep in mind, this entire exchange has little to no context and is left up to interpretation. However, most people look at it as a confession of incestuous sexual abuse. It is odd that he would offer such personal details to strangers who were "throwing shade" at him unless he is truly lost. Perhaps he has no filter or parameters in social settings or that is his personality. In either case this recording alone simply urges more skepticism and does not give any additional concrete insight as to the root cause of their blemished relationship.
Before the second audio recording was leaked, Kerrion's mother Shawn Ewing expressed her support for Kirk in an interview on The Hearbeat with Erica English in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, sharing that he never abandoned his son and has been working with her for years to help him resolve issues. Kirk said in his interview with Tamron Hall that their family, including his wife Tammy have been dealing with their issues with Kerrion in counseling for 20 years. Both sides say they want Kerrion to get help and admit they have been imperfect. It is odd for parents to continue to participate in counseling session with their adult children.
Fans of Kirk Franklin and followers of Kerrion are left to wonder about what is true and whether they will heal of the apparent toxicity together or apart.
Is this a set up or a cover up?
