2022 Economic forecast -- We are not "there yet despite growth
The economic recovery that Whtie House is touting in the new year seems to be going nowhere fast -- like running up an escalator going in the opposite direction. Economically the country experiencing progression and digression at the same time and it isn't the government's fault. Certainly if any leader could wave a magic wand to make the pandemic go away they would. The fact that in three years the U.S> has not reached the curve in lowering the spread of Coronavirus is the problem.
The economy is in a better position at the top of 2021 than a year ago. In fact, CNN reports Pres. Biden has seen more economic growth in his first year than any president in history. That growth curve in the face of a sliding pandemic and rising food prices leave the impression that inflation can not be tamed, which does not add up. The sense that economic progress is not being made is due to COVID-fatigue a CNN analyst says.
The job numbers from December 2021 reflect a solid first quarter is ahead. with the unemployment rate at 4.2% and over 600.000 jobs added. Pres. Biden noted himself in a roundtable with farmers on promoting competition in the meat industry Monday that, The economy as a whole is stronger than before the pandemic."
The president said the nation in a "unique" position of strength. Yet, Omicron is weighing this success down. The fast pace of its spread and outpacing test availability. Businesses and families are making decision on their ability to function and stay healthy which is impaired by the widespread presence of the new virus strand.
"This is definitely a setback for the recovery," Kathryn Wylde, president and CEO of the Partnership for New York City, an influential business group, told CNN.
