Slice report 1/3: What Senate Democrats Plan to Do About Voting Rights

Senator Chuck Schumer wrote to Democrats in a letter there will be a vote on the rule change to block the misuse of the filibuster in senate proceedings.  Four large meat-packing companies control 85 percent of the beef market in the United State. In poultry, the top four processing firms control 54 percent of the market. This places price setting in their control. This set of facts was released by the White House On Monday before Pres, Biden met  in a virtual roundtable  with farmers from across the country encouraging them to lower the cost of meat. 

The high price of meat is causing some families to keep tight food budgets and buy meat at wholesale prices.  A family pack of chicken legs at Safeway stores can cost as much as 10 in some areas.   

The rectify this stronghold on meat pricing the Biden Adminsitration introduced a plan to 

• Expand and diversify meat and poultry processing capacity;
• Increase producer income;

 and give consimers more price options.
