PRAYERS UP: Pop star Britney Spears denounces God
In a 3-minute video posted to Instagram on Monday, singer Britney Spears denounced God.. The Louisiana native might still believe were it not for rocky relationship with most of her immediate family members stemming from a 13-year conservatorship which stripped her basic rights as an adult.
Said Spears, "God would not [have allowed] that to happen to me if God existed. I don't believe in God anymore because of the way my children and my family have treated me. "There is nothing to believe in anymore. I'm an atheist, y'all."
This comment follows a post directed at her sons on Saturday in which she seemed to still maintain faith in God.
"I'm so sorry children I continue to do social media … I'm sorry you feel I do it for attention … I'm sorry for the way you feel … but guess what ???? I've got news for you … I'm a child of God as well we all are in God's eyes … so NOPE I'm not sorry … I've learned to say SO !!!"
Her teenage sons ad been criticizing her behavior on Instagram, claiming she is trying to get attention.
She recently has been in a public spat with her ex-husband Kevin Federline who she said she pays $40k monthly. He appeared along with her son Jayden in an ITV interview being critical of her parenting skills. Spears stepped back into the spotlight last year after a court-endorsed conservatorship that gave her father control over her medical and decisions. He has custody of her children. Spears remarried model for the third time last month.
In Monday's audio recording, Spears delved further into the conflict, addressing her younger son, now 15, directly: "Jayden, as you undermine my behavior just like my whole family always has with, 'Hope she gets better. I will pray for her' — pray for what?"
"Do you guys want me to get better so I can continue paying your dad 40 grand a month, or is the reasoning behind you guys deciding to be hateful is because it's actually over in two years and you don't get anything?" Spears added, alluding to Federline being no longer be eligible to collect their child support payments when her children turn 18.
Federline, a former back up dancer for Spears her sister Jamie Lynn and parents all benefitted from her fame. Since she was a child actor, her career as been a source of financial stability for her immediate family and ex-husband. Fans believed her father tried to control her life to have control of her finances and that the bizarre conservatorship was the only way he could do it legally.
