Black College Student Found Hanging on Campus In Mississippi In Alleged zsuucide, Family Suspects Foul Play

 

Trey Reed's family and the Black community suspect foul play. 

(TSN): Trey Reed, a student at Delta State University was found hanging from a tree the campus on Monday. In its preliminary reports, the police allege he dued by uicide.  However,  despite claims of "no foul play" family members suspect the death was a lynching. 

The Black community.is speaking out online with concerns that twrrofying incident harkens back  to the Jim Crow and Civil Rights era when lynchung in the state was normal. 

The school cancelled classes and shut the school down.  There were rumkrs that Reed had broken bones inducating Reed coukd nit have killed hinself.  Police confirmed no bones were broken. 

The  coroner's report on the cause of death is pending.

Civil Rights attorney Benjamin Crump,associated with high profile social justice cases will represent the family. 

A second person identified as a homeless man eas also found hung in the town on the same day.
