Dept. Of Education Proposes Grants for Patriotux Education



Ahead of the 250th Birthday of the U.S. the Department of Education  is further encouraging the teaching of postive U.S. history with the announcement of a proposal for Patriotic  Education grants.  As the federal government continues to scrub history the Trump Administration does not deem suitable for all from classrooms and museums, thus grants seeks to promote acceptable lessons about U.S. history that enabled the Republic to thrive. Curriculla that "promote a civic education that teaches American history, values, and geography with an unbiased approach" are invited.

“In the American system, educated citizens who know their rights and embrace their responsibilities cooperate to build a more perfect Union,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. 

“It is imperative to promote an education system that teaches future generations honestly about America’s Founding principles, political institutions, and rich history. To truly understand American values, the tireless work it has taken to live up to them, and this country’s exceptional place in world history is the best way to inspire an informed patriotism and love of country."

The Department characterizes Parriotic educatin as being "accrate," "inspiring " "honest" and highlights progress  include civil rights heroes who "fought to extend the protections of the U.S. Constitution to all citizens, and affirms that dedication to America's core values is both meaningful and justified."

The langauge in the announcement appears to cinvet the Department is making an effort to be inclusive, particularly of African Americans who whose heroism was essential in the Civil Rights Era. 

The DOE has had a flurry of complaints about attempting to revise history by "editing" out moral blemishes like chattel slavery.
