DOE Furlpugh 1400 Workers

Aother givernmpqqqemt agency is undergping mass layoffs.  The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), part of the United States Department of Energy, announced it will furlough about 1,400 federal workers due to the ongoing government shutdown.

These workers concentrate on protecting the nation's  nuclear arsenal.  They are  responsible for maintaining and modernizing the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile, securing nuclear materials, overseeing key labs and facilities.

After the furloughs, only around 375–400 employees will continue working to support “the protection of property and the safety of human life.”

The shutdown has forced the NNSA to “stretch” remaining funds and reduce non‑essential operations for the first time in the agency’s history.
