(TSN)— A federal judge has temporarily barred the Trump administration from firing thousands of federal workers amid the ongoing government shutdown. U.S. District Judge Susan Illston issued the order after finding the layoffs were likely politically motivated and executed without proper legal authority.
“It’s very much ready, fire, aim on most of these programs, and it has a human cost,” Illston said during the hearing.
The ruling came after federal agencies began issuing mass layoff notices last week, part of a broader push to shrink government operations and pressure Congress during the budget standoff. The judge granted a temporary restraining order, siding with unions representing over 800,000 federal employees who argued the firings violated labor protections and due process.
The White House has not commented directly, but the Office of Management and Budget is expected to appeal the decision.
NOTE📌 : This marks a major legal setback for the administration’s shutdown strategy and offers a reprieve for thousands of workers caught in the political crossfire.
