John Bolton Indicted for Mishandling Classified Information




John Bolton, Pres. Donald Trump's former National Security Advisor,  was indicted on 18-counts of mishandming classifued material by a Maryland Grand Jury  on Thursday.

 

In the first Trump Administration Bolton,  disagreed with the president  on key global affairs decisions, openly opposing his diplomatic overtures to totalitarian leader of   North  Korean, Kim Jong-un and criticized his reluctance to confront adversaries more aggressively.


In August the FBI initiated the unvestigation by raiding  his Bethesda, MD home and office in where they confiscated confidential national defense documents he allegedly  exposed to hus wife and daughter. 


Charges included 8 counts of transmitting national defense information Allegedly shared top secret documents via email with unauthorized individuals.


The other 10 counts were for unlawful retention of national defense information related to keeping classified materials—including intelligence on future attacks and foreign adversaries—after leaving his role as National Security Adviser.


In 2020 Bolton published a tell-all book titled "The Room Where It All Happened."


A reporter asked Trump if  he had reviewed the case against his long-time foe and he said he had not but commented that Bolton is " a bad guy and that's the way it  goes."
