Cox Continues Concert Dates in U.S. and Abroad
(New York, NY - June 24, 2013) --GRAMMY®-nominated, multi-talented entertainer Deborah Cox will join entertainment icon Cher at the Dance on the Pier concert on June 30, during Gay Pride Week in New York City. Cox, who has an impressive eleven #1 hits on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart, is no stranger to the gay community. "For many years, I have been performing at several gay pride events across the country," says Cox. "But this particular event is most special because I have an opportunity to share the same stage with one of my musical heroes. Cher is everything I've ever wanted to become in entertainment. Like me, she's a triple threat and she has pioneered the way for so many of us. I am humbled and honored by this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Earlier this month, Cox performed for another one of her musical idols, music legend Chaka Khan, at the Apollo Theater Spring Gala, where Khan was inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame. Cox joined Patti Labelle, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Jennifer Holiday, Alexandra Burke and host Wayne Brady to honor the icon's 40 years in music and entertainment. Recently, Cox played her final performance in the Broadway musical production of Jekyll & Hyde, which had alimited engagement at the Marquis Theatre, following a successful 25-week national tour, which launched in October 2012. Cox received rave reviews from critics and theater-goers alike for her starring role as Lucy.
This summer, Cox will start pre-production of her seventh album, and perform a series of concert dates in the U.S. and abroad, including Australia, and Cape Town, South Africa. She will also make an appearance at this year's ESSENCE Festival during the July 4 holiday.
