Joe Madison say’s ‘It’s time to march.’

(Bristow, VA) – June
26, 2013 -- The High Court
overturned a portion of the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA), altering one of
the most significant pieces of legislation in American History.
Joe Madison, host of the Sirius XM show The Urban View spoke
to Mona Austin in an interview Wednesday
afternoon while the news was fresh.
Madison said of the decision “It’s very disappointing and it’s going to require immediate action on the
part of Congress and immediate demand and organizing on the part of Civil
Rights organizations. . .”
On the question of the current relevance of the VRA, a law
that was implemented over 40 years ago, Madison said to thin k the law is
outdated is a fallacy, recognizing discrimination still exists in modern times.
“Jim Crow is not an
issue. It’s James Crow, Esq.,” he said and proceeded to provide several current
examples of voter disenfranchisement.
“It’s time for us to march,” the Civil Rights activist known
as “The Black Eagle” added.
