Score!: MVP Kevin Durant names mother 'real' MVP in acceptance speech

buzzz worthy. . .

"When something good happens to you, I don't know about you guys, but I tend to look back to what brought me here.. . .mom, you are the real MVP" Kevin Durant, 2014 MVP, Oklahoma City Thunder

The NBA's newly minted MVP, Kevin Durant has given his mother, Wanda Pratt  a priceless Mother's Day gift during his acceptance speech Wednesday.  Durant concluded that his mother, a single mom, was the real MVP for instilling the discipline that made him a basketball star and for sacrificing for her family.  Touching many hearts, the speech went viral. The NBA has also made a Mother's Day commercial around his powerful words.

Earning 119 first-place votes, Durant was a clear favorite in the league. Miami's LeBron James, who won the last two MVP awards and four of the previous five, finished second with six first-place votes, and Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers came in third.

If you can't find the words to say to let your mom know she is still #1 in your life, quote Kevin. Listen to his powerfully beautiful speech in The Slice Radio Report here. Don't forget to call her, send flowers, a card or some token of appreciation.  Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 11.
