University of Missouri President Resigns
buzzz worthy. . .
University of Missouri president Tim Wolfe has resigned under mounting pressure from students and faculty following a string of racially charged campus incidents. Over the last two months, starting with racial slurs against the student body president, who is black, students asked the administration to do something. Since September there were reports of more racial slurs, a Swastika sign being formed out of fecal matter and more recently as students protested peacefully a truck drove with the confederate flags waving on it drove by. Recently, a swastika drawn in human feces was found in a dormitory bathroom it was reported. Black students and others staged walk outs and hunger strikes to protest the harassment. Black players on the school's football team said they would not play again until the school does something. Head football coach Gary Pinkel tweeted a photo Sunday of white and black students standing in solidarity with the message, "The Mizzou Family stands as one. We are united. We are behind our players."
The University of Missouri-Columbia is predominately White, with a minority population of 17%.
