A week ago, Kim Kardashian West walked into the Oval Office and met with Pres. Donald Trump to make an appeal for women serving unjust prison sentences, particularly Alice Marie Johnson.  She'd seen Johnson's story on CNN and was moved to get her released.   Johnson was found guilty of drug trafficking and money laundering.

West tweeted her gratitude to the president: "I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense." Johnson served 21 years and was overcome with emotion when her family greeted her outside of the Alabama prison. She credited Pres. Trump with giving her a new start in life. She also silenced doubts that Kardashian West, a reality star, wanted attention for herself. "She has truly been relentless in her fight for me," Johnson said with gratitude toward the wife of rapper Kante West. "To know a woman who has never met me ... who has embraced my story and taken me into her heart ... this is not just a publicity thing for her. Kim told me when she left that White House meeting that no matter how this turns out ... she would never stop fighting for me." When she met Trump "Kim K" did not smile in the photo and was so moved by Johnson's story that she got her personal attorney involved.

Kim thanked Pres. Trump for his compassion in a tweet and acknowledged getting assitance from Jared Kushner.
