Trump signs U.S.- Japan Trade Agreement and the U.S.-Japan Digital Trade

(Washington, D.C.) - On Monday, October 7, President Donald J. Trump will hosted a formal ceremony for the signing of the U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement and the U.S.-Japan Digital Trade Agreement, two important early outcomes from successful, bilateral trade negotiations with Japan.
 
The U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement will result in duty free or preferential access for approximately 90 percent of U.S. agricultural goods exports to Japan.  The U.S.-Japan Digital Trade Agreement includes high-standard, comprehensive provisions in the area of digital trade, including ‘gold standard’ rules that can also be found in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA), another successful Trump Administration trade agreement that awaits a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Further negotiations with Japan will be held on other issues following the implementation of these agreements.
