Deadly Shooting at Florida Naval Air Station

Authorities say the gunman has been "neutralized" in an early morning murder at the Navy Air Station in Pensacola, FL. However, to prevent further alarm they have not released the identity of the shooter or confirmed if he was a member of the military. The base is an open training facility located in Escambia County, currently on lock down until further notice. Facilities in the immediate area are closed. (They asked that locals do not come to that side of town if they have no business there.)
Sheriff David Morgan said, "The threat has been negated. Our community is secure at this time." Four are deceased and 4 injured he said.
The two officers who intervened are being heralded as heroes for preventing further loss. One was shot in the arm, the other shot in the knee. They are both expected to survive, Chief Deputy Chip Simmons said. Sheriff David Morgan said it "looked like a movie scene." He explained they are not there are a lot of moving parts and there may be mis-statements art this point and is asking the public not be be overly critical as the gather details. They are not talking about the situation before notifying next of kin and were hesitant to call it an act of terror.
Investigators are attempting to figure out the motive. The shooting happened in a classroom building on the base,There were a total of 11 people impacted including the shooter, the injured and 3 victims on the crime scene are deceased.
The state of Florida has unfortunately been a frequent site of mass killings.
The governors office and the White House have contacted the authorities to offer resources and support if necessary.
White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere said that President Donald J. Trump "has been briefed on the shooting at Pensacola Naval Air Station/Forest Sherman Field and is monitoring the situation.”
