Today, President Donald J. Trump will deliver brief remarks at the White House Summit on Transforming Mental Health Treatment to Combat Homelessness, Violence, & Substance Abuse.
This Summit brings together senior Administration officials; State, and local officials; law enforcement leaders; treatment practitioners and mental health professionals; and patient and reform advocates to share diverse perspectives on ways to improve care for those suffering with serious mental illness (SMI). SMI is a major contributing factor causing incidents of mass violence and many unpublicized incidents of one-on-one acts of violence, drug addiction, homelessness, and the inefficient diversion of law enforcement and correctional resources.
