While attacks against Harris Went on Inside, the Democrats Fought Back Outside on the Building

Image
By  Mona Austin   JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential pick continues to promote that Vice pres. Kamala Harris did not work at McDonalds.  Harris has stated she worked at the fast food restaurant tolerate to Americans who did not come from wealthy backgrounds like her rival Donld J. Trump.  Despite confirming in interviews that she did in fact work at a McDonalds, Walz belittled Harris at a event held at Madison Sqaure Gardens that featured the "rock stars" of the Republican Party.  He painted a picture of her being incompetent poking fun at her responses when asked about the economy.  Vance has been a gregarious critic of Harris not being able to finish the job to make changes in the four years she already held office.  But outside of the building the Democratic National Committee had purchased a digital ad to remind those we saw it that Trump is a threat.  The competition in the last lap of the campaign is revolving around mis ad di...

Their first critical presidential debate in the race for the White House airs on ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Mics will be muted on one candidate while the other is speaking. Held for 90 minutes just blocks away from Independence Hall at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, the debate will be moderated by ABC's David Muir and Linsey Davis. Both campaigns have their own issues with ABC Network. Trump turns to donors amid election set back, accuses Biden of election interference

By Mona Austin (TSN): Former Pres. Donald Trump is updating his tactics to appeal to donors to remain in the 2024 presidential race after a blow to his electability this week. On Friday he released a video message to supporters following the U.S. Supreme Court decision not to fast track a case focused on whether he can be prosecuted for his involvement in attempting to subvert 2020 presidential election results. Special Counsel Jack Smith submitted a plea to speed up the process. This is a welcome delay for Trump and his team but he is still facing many more legal challenges. Earlier this week Trump's name was removed from the ballot in Colorado by the State Supreme Court's decision. Judges who ruled against him were targeted with credible death threats and critics claimed Trump's negative tweets after the ruling prompted them. Trump took the opportunity to raise more money, doubling down on opinion that he is being pursued for no reason and Biden is destroying the...

Trump could lose post-presidential privileges if impeached in the Senate

Image
By Mona Austin (The Slice): The denial of presidential privileges has come up in discussions on how to penalize Pres. Donald Trump for causing a riot at the U.S. Capitol. As he is transitioning out of the role, it has become evident that he could lose a lot more than the election if House impeachment efforts are successful in the Senate.  Congress can intervene to deny the former president access to the lush life he has enjoyed at the expense of American taxpayers.  All presidents have the luxury of several life-long benefits after they leave office.  Taxpayers cover  various presidential perks, unless the POTUS is impeached.  This may be why even though the clock is ticking down fast before the presidential term officially ends on January 20, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi formally called for an article of impeachment to be filed on Monday.   The public is losing confidence in counting on impeachment to hold the president accountable for the capitol insur...

Hunter Biden is under federal investigation for tax fraud and linked to corrupt business dealings in China. Barr also told The Associated Press in a previous interview that he had seen no evidence of widespread voting fraud, despite President Donald Trump's claims to the contrary. By Mona Austin On Monday the Senate impeachment trial against Pres. Donald Trump that became the first in history where witnesses were not allowed to testify will begin to wrap up.  The White House Counsel and House impeachment managers will deliver closing arguments followed by a Wednesday vote on conviction or acquittal, the latter of which is almost certain.    The likely acquittal will take place after the State of the Union address, which means Pres.  Donald Trump will not be able to taut vindication officially when addressing the nation on Tuesday, a small pacification for Democrats.    Both sides will have two hours to persuade Senators to support their position in closing arguments. Last week the the arguments centered around blocking the testimony of former Security advisor Michael Bolton, whose manuscript of a book with incriminating details about Trump's ill-intention in the Ukraine matter was exposed earlier in the week.  According t...

Presidential Message on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, 2020

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the millions of precious souls who perished as a result of the horrific crimes perpetrated by the Nazi regime.  We also reaffirm our steadfast commitment to confronting the vile poison of anti-Semitism wherever and whenever it arises. This year’s annual observance of International Holocaust Remembrance Day is especially moving as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.  As we solemnly mourn those who were abused, tortured, or killed at Auschwitz and other concentration and extermination camps, we acknowledge the heroes who risked their own lives—many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice—to help liberate the camps.  Their sacrifices helped the forces of freedom prevail to ensure that these atrocious crimes will never be repeated. Unfortunately, there are still Jewish men, women, and children who face persecution and discrimination today.  To fight the rise of anti-Semitism in ...

Prayer is back in schools

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, said her department’s new guidelines, which highlight “constitutionally protected prayer,” require state agencies to inform it when complaints are filed about limitations to the free exercise of religion. “Too many misinterpret a separation of church and state as an invitation for government to separate people from their faith,” DeVos said. “In reality, our Constitution doesn’t exist to protect us from religion; it exists to protect religion from government.” Daniel Mach, director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Program on Freedom of Religion and Belief, said the Education Department's guidance about school prayer is very similar to language that has been in place since 2003 when issued by then-President George W. Bush. “Importantly, both the Bush guidance and the copycat document released today affirm a core constitutional protection: School officials are prohibited from imposing their faith on students,” Mach said. “The questi...

Trump lawyers will not cooperate with judiciary committee subpoenas

Lawyers for President Trump said on Sunday that they would not participate in the House Judiciary Committee’s first public impeachment hearing on Wednesday, airing a long list of complaints that they said prevented “any semblance of a fair process.” Committee chairman Jerry Nadler gave them a deadline of Friday Last week he said he wanted everyone to testify... Before departure to the NATO Summit in England this morning the president apparently changed his mind. Claiming the Democrats planned the impeachment hearing intentionally to coincide when he would be at The summit he continued to say it is a hoax. "So the Democrats, the radical-left Democrats, the do-nothing Democrats, decided when I'm going to NATO -- this was set up a year ago -- that when I'm going to NATO, that was the exact time. This is one of the most important journeys that we make as president. And for them to be doing this and saying this and putting an impeachment on t...

Image

Trump was not the "luck charm" a second Republican candidate for governor hoped he would be in Louisiana. Louisianans Democrats have re-elected Gov. John Bel Edwards to serve the Pelican State for 4 more years. A minister prayed before his acceptance speech asking for blessings over the governor and traditionally red state. After defeating businessman Eddie Rispone, Edwards praised his entire family for their support. "They believed in me...especially our faith and I believe in social justice," he said in reference to the values he holds and perhaps a broader  swipe at Conservative Evangelicals who appear to think have a monopoly on Christianity. Pres. Trump's campaign efforts for Rispone earlier this week failed. The president had visited Louisiana twice within a month. This is the second time a Republican governor has ...

What the public hearing is not about in a word: quid pro quo

Image
OPINION by Mona Austin On Wednesday a public impeachment hearing featuring two key witnesses of the controversial July 25 phone conversation between Pres. Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky of the Ukraine will be televised. There is something the American people should know before tuning in: while you are watching, Trump will be tweeting, "There was no quid pro quo. . .The call was perfect " The echo of this line lingers in the minds of millions who have heard it repeated to media over the last seven weeks from the Oval office to his shouted responses to questions when departing the White House under the loud propeller sound of Marine 1. The former reality TV star, knows how to hold audience with the masses and will continue to direct those watching about what to pay attention to. The Democrats' goal is to prove the president betrayed his oath of office when asking Zelenskiy to investigate his political rival Vice Pres. Joe Biden's son Hunter Bid...
