This week in Washington. . . Pres. Joe Biden is closing in on deciding who the next SCOTUS will be to meet his self imposed end of February deadline. Pres. Biden met with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to select the next Supreme Court nominee at the White House on Thursday. The group of 10 lawmakers shared their recommendations with the president. He says that they are in a "deep dive' search for the candidate who will replace retiring justice Stephen Breyer, confirming to NBC's Lester Holt in and interview tat the list has been narrowed down to 4 candidates.   NEWS ROUND UP Now that the U.S. is out of Afghanistan, Pres. Joe Biden is juggling another crisis, this one out of human control -- the weather and climate change. Biden has approved disaster relief for multiple states this week promising to send the supplies and resources neceessary for recovery efforts in Louisiana, Missouri, New York and New Jersey. More forceful and rapidly reccuring weather disasters have hit the nation from coast-to-coast, which Democratic lawmakers say is proof their infrastructure plan is necessary. The president visits New Orleans today where there is major damage from Hurricane Ida. The storm swept up to the Notheast where 43 people have died mainly between New York and New Jesey from floods. On the economy. . .Employment slowed in the month of August with 235,000 jobs being added, a smaller gain than expected after two months of growth during a swell in the Coronavirus.
